Lycanthrope, lycan, lycanthropy, all relate to werewolves.
lycanthrope (from the Greek λυκάνθρωπος: λύκος, lykos, "wolf", and ἄνθρωπος, anthrōpos, "man") lycanthrope (from the Greek werewolf: Wolf, lykos, "wolf", and man, anthrōpos, "man")
There being other types of weres in play, they would be weres or shifters, not lycans, not lycanthropes, which specifically, by the sheer language, means wolf man.
