Alex Vipond: Alex was nervous to say the least, and kept fussing with his hair as he paced the studio, from the sound room, to the control room, to the conference room/front office area and back. He kept making the circuit, over and over, and had chewed the flavor out of a half a pack of gum. He probably shouldn't be nervous, but he was. His fingers slid through his hair for 5,289th time before he finally dropped into one of the wrought iron pope chairs in the control room. Why that chair? It just happened to be the closest one to his ass at the time.
fae fleur: Calla arrived after her mother directed her here and she almost hoped her mother would remain but in typical Arissia fashion, she had smiled, murmured something about them two getting to know one another without her being in the way and then she'd dashed off to buy handbags or something. So it was a lone teenage girl in a simple sundress with a sweater on top. She wasn't used to clothing and it felt both restrictive and awkward. In the Veil, nobody cared --- sometimes you ran across someone with a flimsy leafy skirt or what have you but nobody r e a l l y cared. Thus her clothing was simple and she was alone, save for a stuffed animal in her arms --- a small white fox that looked like the kind you might win at a county fair. This was another big building --- nobody lived in the meadows or tree houses here. In fact she yet to SEE a meadow or tree house. Just the same she hesitantly wandered inside and looked around with large truffle colored eyes. And then a glance over her shoulder --- maybe her Mother would come back if she wished hard enough? What if this man didn't like her? Worse, what if he didn't like the fox? She bit on her bottom lip and waited as if by doing so the Alexandre fellow would magically appear. If he didn't appear in 5-4-3-2- she was quite apt to turn and dart off like a frightened doe.
Alex Vipond: Alex heard the arrival and headed back through toward the front, and when he saw her, he just stopped in his tracks. He wasn't sure what he'd been expecting but to see the ethereal beauty before him and to realize that... he'd made that, struck him to the core. He could have easily stood there for a minute or an hour, staring at her and he wouldn't have known the difference. When he finally found his voice it was a murmured, "Mon dieux," and no, it wasn't something he would have normally said, but he was so struck he reverted to his native tongue without thought.
fae fleur: He most definitely played a part in making her. She had no fangs. She had no traces of vampirism....Except whenever people got cut or bled -- rather than darting away from the sight, she wanted to l i c k it. In fact! The goblins once admonished her and told her she'd be banned from the Veil if she ever again asked someone to please bleed into this little glass. Apparently t h a t was quite offensive. This place, it was scary --- this insane kingdom called Ah-Mer-Ika. Even here in her father's lair, he had odd things hanging on the walls and there was no stone hearth (how did these people eat?) She was still basically abusing her own bottom lip when he appeared. Her clutch on the stuffed fox tightened -- she didn't turn him loose or let him go real-fox because, well because people in this place seemed to not like it when a wild fox had free run? She mirrored his stare. This must be him! She could tell because for one thing, her senses were heightened. V a m p i r e. So she knew and she was staring at him big time, gobbling him all up with the big brown eyes. "Hi," she whispered. And at this point, for real's, not much above a whisper. "You are Alexandre? I'm Calla. I came from the Veil to see you." In case he somehow didn't know that?
Alex Vipond: "I am." he nodded, and then smiled, his eyes taking her in, in every detail. "You've your grandfather's eyes...." he paused, and then stepped closer to get a better look at her, even though he could see her just fine from where he stood. "In fact... You bear a strong resemblance to my grandmother.... My father's mother." He waved a hand as if that mattered not and then looked around. "Would you care to sit down? Perhaps something to eat or drink?" Was she the sugar-holic her mother was? He'd tried to have a variety of things on hands, everything from a veggie tray, to a meat and cheese tray, and yes, a cookie and sweets tray all laid out on the conference room table which was open to the front office. "I wasn't sure what you would like...." he kind of trailed off, one hand dragging through his hair and fussing with it just a bit.
fae fleur: She didn't know she h a d grandparents. She could have stared at him all day. She was wondering no less than forty or so questions but Calla was usually about as noisy and talkative as a church mouse. Even after he politely offered a drink and a place to sit, she remained, lingering in the doorway just staring at him. Finally she turned and very gently set the stuffed fox down, "Stay." She might have looked a little nutty speaking to a stuffed animal but she looked a lot nuttier when she landed in a place called Missa Sippy naked as the day she was born, behind a 7-11 so this here paled in comparison. "Can I have some water with sugar in it please?" If he just wanted to dump a half pound of sugar in a cup and add a little water, that'd be fine. As for taking a seat, she no longer looked around for giant mushrooms because they didn't have them here. They seemed to do all their sitting on oddly constructed boxes and rectangles, some of which were made from animal hides, and some of them were itchy plaid -- she didn't like them at all. Just the same she bobbed her head and looked around for where she should sit. "I just got here..." And then she paused, struggling for a moment because concepts like hours, days, months, years --- they were all abstract to her. "Well I got here before the trout went out for the morning?"
Alex Vipond: Alex's lips twitched upward in amusement. She was her mother's daughter, no two ways about it. Alex moved to the table, poured water into a goblet, about half full and then lifted the sugar shaker and started adding sugar, watching her to see when enough was enough. Without a cue, he stopped when the glass was threatening to spill over and then set the goblet down in front of her. "Those trout are early risers. You must be famished." His hand passed right by the veggies and the meat trays and dragged the cookies and cakes tray over, before he pulled a plush leather chair out for her and then moved to one himself. He'd wait until she was seated before sitting down himself, one leg draping over the other as his hand went to his hair once more, finger combing it a bit before he lowered his hand to the table. "Your trip was a good one, I hope."
fae fleur: And she kept watching, not blinking or giving any indication that there was enough sugar, until it did threaten to overspill. Perfect. A small smile braved then, each corner of ripe apple mouth lifting briefly. "Thank you." Once her drink basically looked mushy, she knew it was just right. Taking that and a cookie, she studied the cookie for a moment and sniffed at it, her nose acting much like a white rabbit's. She could smell the sugar in it. She wasn't sure what else was in it but it smelled awfully good. Almost timidly she took a seat and again had to get used to these odd chair arms. She wasn't sure why the people in this Kingdom wanted to be boxed into their seats but her mother had warned her that things were mighty different on this side. Eventually she stopped marveling and nodded at the Vampire. "It was fine. I lost a bracelet but Mother said she can get me a new one." As for her trip, she mused on it and nodded again. "I have a harvest season to decide whether I want to stay here or go back. That's why I came to see you first." It really was like Breaking Amish. Except for Fae folk.
Alex Vipond: "A harvest season..." he stopped, then nodded. Time there wasn't what it was here. It was more ... fluid. He knew that from past discussions with Calla's mother. "I'm glad you did. I would really like to get to know you. And to show you ... everything there is about our world. Is there anything in particular you are interested in? Your mother says you're a musician." He couldn't help but give a smile and a small, almost nervous chuckle at that.
fae fleur: "I like my harp. My sister is good with the bow and arrows and I am good with the harp." Tentatively, she took a bite of her cookie. Pretty much instant love there. She turned the cookie in her hand, studying it and trying to figure out which Elder or goblin genius had invented these things--- they were like small convenient shaped sugar clusters. When she was done nibbling, she smiled at Alexandre. "My Mother said I got my musical stuff from you. She said you're a well-known musician. What do you play?" Her repertoire was largely limited to...sprite tunes, whimsical ditties with no titles or lyrics so she was looking forward to hearing her father's stuff. She had to think about what she'd like to do or see when he asked and finally she bobbed her head. "I know. My Mother said you have big huge wheels in the sky and you can sit in them and they go round and round slowly. I want to try one of those!" A Ferris wheel, yee haw!
Alex Vipond: "Guitar is my go to instrument, but I also play piano, drums, bass, cello..." He pretty much did it all. "I started with a lute at about four years old...." He nodded when she mentioned a Ferris wheel. "We can do that. There's a huge one in London with cars that carry like sixty people in each one. There's one here at the waterfront, and there's one in LA, Los Angeles, where I used to live that is on the Santa Monica Pier. We can go to any and all. We also have the Space Needle which is a really cool place to visit. And there's the Underground Tour as well, that we can hit."
fae fleur: For a brief moment she looked a little dazed when he listed off so many places. The Kingdoms here had Kingdoms inside of them. She glanced off thoughtfully trying to figure out what kind of warlord was so mighty as to take over so many lands. Surely they'd have to travel over many bridges and pay tolls, and she didn't have her horse with her. This might mean they'd have to be on one of those huge metal dragonfly's that had no soul and no eyes. But she didn't want to appear to be a wuss like that other clan of fae folk and so she nodded casually. "I'd like that very much." Back to that cookie. It was the best sugar disk ever really and she couldn't figure out how they got it to stay in one piece. Once more she peeked over to him, brows furrowing at all those instruments. "I have a lute!" Door opening! She brightened some, perked even, she and the Vampire had something in common. "You have played for a long time? Mother said you used to play in France before the dragons started dying off."
Alex Vipond: Alex chuckled. "Not quite that long...." Well, in their world anyway, who knew on the other side, "I was born in 1,296. I started playing when I was four and composing when I was eight. And I have continued to do so, ever since." He nodded, then pulled a goblet over, dropped a tea bag into it, and then added hot water from the insulated carafe. He then let it sit and steep as he looked back at her and just studied her. "I just... can't believe you're really here. This is ... amazing for me."
fae fleur: Lifting her drink to sip at it while she listened, she stared at him over the rim and tried to work the math out in her mind, though her concept of time and numbers was quiet different from his. She could tell, however, that it was a long time he'd been playing. When he made the latter comment, she braved a tiny grin, bashful in nature and short lived but almost identical to Alex's manner of carefree grin. Nature versus Nurture. It was amazing for her as well, hence the musical giggle when she shyly looked down. "Me too. Mom talks about you a lot when she is home. She goes away a lot when the moons change or sometimes when the thorn bushes turn white. But she told me a lot about you. She said you like something called Glen to drink and you turned into a Cal-eh-phorn-eea Kid."
Alex Vipond: "Glenmorangie, yes." he nodded. "And yes, I spent a good deal of time in California, with your mother, in point of fact." Hence Calla's arrival, "I do love it there. It's just a bit... sunny." hence the phrase, Sunny California.
fae fleur: Bravely she lifted from her seat and wandered over in footsteps as quiet as any geisha. She then took a seat directly beside him and studied him with less nervousness while he spoke. Sunny. He said this Kingdom called California was sunny and she so did love the sun. At the mere mention of it, in fact, her cheeks took on a vibrant cherry flush, skin getting two notches warmer. Then she looked down thoughtfully, and back to him. "You can't be in the sunshine much, I forgot." She knew about Vampires. She was Learned. You know, Learned, what they called it on her side, when all the fae children, wrinkly goblin children, gnome babies and other types, when they all sat on large mushrooms and the Elder Goblin Learned them about everything important.
Alex Vipond: "That's... not entirely true anymore." he flashed the ring he wore on his hand at her. "I have a friend who is a witch, who hooked me up with a talisman to keep me from going Post Toastie." Yep, that kind of talk right there is what always baffled the fuck out of the city council. They didn't know if he was being snarky, or downright disrespectful or simply spoke a different language than they did. Alex blamed California.
fae fleur: She did her best not to recoil visibly but where she was from, they were taught from birth to stay away from w i t c h e s. They were also taught to stay away from Vampires, and you see how well that one was working out. "Are the witches going to take your eyes for giving you something? Will she feed your liver to a salamander?" Well, she supposed not since he'd probably had the ring for a long time and no harm seemed to have come to him. She leaned, another bite had from her cookie while she studied the ring closely. Looking up from the ring to him, one side of her mouth again lifted in an Alex-Alike half grin.
Alex Vipond: "Uh...." he looked at her for a long moment before he shook his head. "No, but she did give me a hell of a deal on the insurance rider for the studio." She did too. "She also saved my life when your aunt tried to kill me once." He nodded. "She was mad at me... Your aunt, not Izzy. And she had right to be." How the fuck was he going to explain this to Nicole?
fae fleur: "I didn't know I had an aunt." She didn't like her much so far, the unknown aunt who tried to kill her father. As for the witches, she bobbed her head still very wary of them but content to take his word for it because it seemed everything was topsy turvy on this side of The Veil. They ate animals over here, none of the trees had talking faces in the bark, it had been a long time since the dragons died on this side and now this, witches doing good deeds. She bit her bottom lip absorbing it all and whispered again. "Why did Aunt try to kill you? What made her so angry?" She mulled on that. She and her sister, they fought over things left and right, like that time Carissa totally stole her moonstone bracelet and the other time, when Calla *may or may not have* taken some of Carissa's sugar without asking. But so far neither of the Princesses tried to kill the other one.
Moonlit Mortal: She was bored, and her house was so empty and possibly just to large for her. She had decided to take a drive, grab a cinnamon roll and now found herself at Alex's studio. Lights were on so on the notion someone was inside she pulled in parking just right where she used to. The truck came to a low roar before she killed the engine. Slipping out she grabbed her coffee and her roll from inside and shut the door. Heading inside the studio she used her denim clad hip to push the door while nomming slightly on the sweet gooey roll. Once mouth was clear she tried to see where he was if not right in front she'd call out to him.
Alex Vipond: That would take some explaining and Alex took that moment as he considered his words to remove the tea bag from his goblet. He lifted it, took a sip, and then set it back down, before looking back at Calla. "When I was first made, my sire and I butted heads. She turned me against my will, and I fought it, and her, every step of the way. Finally, after about a year of complete self-hatred, she suggested I go home..." He nodded, then drew in a breath, "I did, I wasn't ready. Alea, my sire, knew this. I had little to no control and when I was around family, the pull of the blood was too strong. I was on her before I knew what I was doing, and I drained every last bit of her." He looked to the goblet, drew in a long, shaky breath, and then let it out slowly, his voice low as he continued. "I thought it was my sister, but only after almost seven centuries did I find out that it was in fact, her daughter, my niece that I had killed." The sound of the truck, and then Jade's arrival, had Alex rising, one hand lifting to take a swift swipe at the corners of his eyes. He put on a smile as he looked to Jade as they were right there in conference area. "Hey."
fae fleur: This was a harrowing story that he delivered, killing his sister only to then learn that he killed his niece. What a terrible, terrible thing to have to live with. Her brows furrowed as she tried to sort it out. She wasn't sure what to say to all that so, empathetic Fae to the end, she hugged his neck which might have been awkward for the Vampire since they were total strangers. But it just felt like the thing to do. Someone came in and she looked over, staring at her curiously and wide open. Quickly she was up from her seat, dashing over to pick up the stuffed white fox. Alex greeted the woman in a casual way so she figured the woman was safe --- but it was always best not to take chances with the foxes.
Moonlit Mortal: She noticed something a bit off, she was a very observant person. But if Alex wanted her to know he'd tell her. A smile returned she set her cup down and leaned a hip to the side of the desk peeling another bite of the roll "Hey back, how are you?" She saw the other and tilted her head, curious herself especially when the fox was grabbed. A smile was sent to the other "Hello..." Blues shifting back to Alex "Am I interrupting?"
Alex Vipond: The hug, though brief, had been appreciated, and he looked back at Calla as she clutched up her fox and hugged it, before looking back at Jade. "Um, Jade, this is my um..." he looked back at Calla and smiled, a bit of wonderment in his voice as he spoke. "This is my daughter, Calla."
Moonlit Mortal: Slight choke, little sputter before she could actually say anything since she was mid chew and swallow! What was it Derrick said she had eyes like a deer caught in the headlights? Probably a most definite look at the moment. Once her throat was clear "Excuse me...your daughter?" She knew Alex was old and what he was... "Wait...okay, so... she's like you?" How the hell else could it be explained? Confusion but still held that niceness, contrary to some belief she wasn't a bitch unless she was made mad, then she was a bitch and then some. Gaze moved to Calla and her smile was still warm "It's nice to meet you Calla"
fae fleur: Her brows lifted up when her father said the woman's name. "Was your father a very rich warlord?" Jade was one of the most costly stones and she glanced from her father to Jade. "Are you a duchess?" In any event things seemed safe so while she still held Arliss, her grip had relaxed noticeably. Glancing to the side, she mulled things again. She knew a girl named Pearl once --- a gnome girl. Pearl's father was very wealthy and he owned a lot of --- you guessed it, pearls. Never met a Jade though, or a Diamond. Imagine being so rich as to name a kid Diamond! She almost smiled, bashfully braving it. "Nice to meet you as well."
Alex Vipond: "Only in so much as she's a musician." He grinned and looked back at Jade, a light laugh given at her reaction, not because he wasn't sympathetic, but because face it, it was funny and pretty much the expected reaction from anyone. "Her mother is Fae, as is she." As if that explained how it happened, though in a way it did. Fae heat, prolonged exposure as he'd had back in the late nineties; early double aught... Yeah. He poked fun and Rissy took it seriously.
Moonlit Mortal: She snickered at the warlord comment "Something like one...kinda" Obviously Calla was not used to the normal language so for now she played along. "Um..I'm an heiress..."Did that count as a duchess? Probably not she had no royalty she was aware of. She could see the resemblance of the two and she gave a slight shake of her head. "You never have a dull moment do you Alex?" He didn't! If he wasn't being put on the spot by some fan, he was divorcing, then doing god only knew what with his time, and now a daughter? She needed to come around more often just for the amusement factor! He poked more than fun obviously "Alright so we have Arissia, and Calla...looks like it's time for me to have a party" Small grin and she slid another gooey piece and popped it in her mouth.
Alex Vipond: "Set it up. My house, soon as can be. An inordinate amount of baked goods. Pies, cakes, cupcakes cookies, anything and everything that even remotely resembles sweet." Apparently Charley was getting help in the office, because Alex may as well have just hired Jade as social secretary.
Moonlit Mortal: Blink she tilted her head raising a brow at Alex, She'd yet to meet Charley but she'd been his main person in the past when it came to things. "Alright...give me your guest list.." Ha! He'd have to take some time with that one.
fae fleur: An heiress. That explained the name. She herself was an heiress of sorts. One day she'd get the big castle in the clouds, some gold bricks and all of the peppermint fields and lavender crops. Looking between them, she gently held Arliss, mute while her father and Jade talked. A party. She knew her mother would be all over that and Calla was on board because Alex mentioned sweet things. Speaking of, she gazed curiously at the gooey sweet smelling thing that Jade was eating. Nose twitching again like a white bunny.
Alex Vipond: "I'll email it to you." Alex nodded, and then he looked back at his daughter. If anything, she resembled his paternal grandmother more than anyone but there were hints of the lineage there. The aristocratic turn of her nose, the shape of her brow, the angle of her jaw. Calla's chin and the color of her eyes was where the resemblance faded, but he could see his grandmother in those features and the smile, and the dimples when she smiled, those were so reminiscent of his own that it was near startling.
fae fleur: She set Arliss down finally before he could get impatient or antsy, the stuffed fox gentle perched on a soft before she turned to her father. Having picked up on the surprise here and there at her arrival. "People don't know about me? --- Weren't you waiting for me to come all these harvests?" No. He wasn't because he didn't know about her, because, yanno, one Queen was flighty as hell.
Moonlit Mortal: "Alright, and your address. " Cause yanno she'd never been to his house? Seeing the twitch of Calla's nose and interest in the roll she peeled a piece off and moved toward her offering out the sweet piece. "Careful, it's sticky" She didn't want to get it on the fox or anything. And now it was father daughter moment so she'd kinda just hang back
Alex Vipond: "Uh, no, actually, I just found out about you yesterday. Apparently it slipped your mother's mind..." That and well, face it, Rissy was a flibbertigibbet. The personification of a butterfly, flitting from one flower to the next as something caught her eye. "She felt you slip over apparently and then decided it would be a good time to tell me...." Yeah, even he winced at that one. "I'm sure she would have said something sooner but she kind of got a little sleepy around '05."
fae fleur: First things first, whe drifted closer to Jade and whispered a thank you before taking that bite. Instant love. Brows up. "That's the best thing I've ever tasted. Here, look, we have these minature sugar flat breads." She offered her a cookie. Mini sugar flatbread. Then she looked at her father, about to cock a brow and raise cane but --- his last statement stopped her. She bobbed her head. "She was mostly asleep so she came to see me each night when I went to sleep, she walked in." Irony there, the Queen was banished to sleep b e c a u s e of the Vampire there. She tried to get mad ---really mad-- at her mother but she had a hard time, physically, getting mad. Plus Jade had that odd sticky thing.
Moonlit Mortal: Jade was always good at calming most situations, or blowing something up, depended on the day. At the thank you she finished her portion of the roll and took the cookie with a small grin "Thanks..." She was going to be the size of a house if she hung around these types, they always had goodies!
Alex Vipond: "So, Saturday, two weeks from now, my place, I'll send you the address and the list of people. Don't want anything huge, just basically family and friends." Which, he had a lot of friends but not a lot he'd want at his house. One he definitely needed to talk to was Naja. There were things he had to take care of, provisions to be made in the event of... Yes he was immortal, but that didn't mean he was indestructible.
fae fleur: She looked between them, nibbling quietly while she listened. She was still trying to be mad at her mother -- but it was still hard to do. At mention of the upcoming party, she did math in her head trying to quickly figure out how many sundowns was equal to two weeks then she thought of something important. "Arliss can come?"
Alex Vipond: "Of course. Being anyone you want." he smiled to her. "In fact, since we're going to be getting to know one another and ... if it's alright with your mother, I was kind of hoping you could stay with me at my house for the duration of your stay."
Moonlit Mortal: Taking out her phone since her tablet was in the truck she punched in the date, and fiddled some with ideas of where to get the catering, she'd taken care of his concert snacks and set ups, she could do this no issue. "Alright I'll get the invites out after you get me that stuff" Shifting her fingers around on the keys she herself thought of something, if his friends were like him, it was possible she'd have to leave early depending on how bad the itching got. Looking up at the two she smiled quietly to herself, at least Alex had the notion of how to be a father...unlike her own idiot of one.
fae fleur: She smiled with visible relief when he said she could bring Arliss, who currently looked like the work of a taxidermist. P.S. The fox would not remain in this frozen docile state for too-too much longer but right now, all was good. Again the bashful grin emerged when he said she could stay with him. "Yes!" Come on. Arissia had probably already forgotten that Alexandre and Calla were meeting so it was unlikely she'd care where Baby Fae took a room, as long as it was safe and yada yada. "Jade, Dad, I think we should definitely have a big crystal bowl or little fountain with sugar water in it at the party. And maybe some of these things Jade has."
Moonlit Mortal: Still typing she nodded "Crystal fountain with sugar water, and cinnamon rolls, and pies and anything else sweet I can possibly find honey" She'd wink to Calla and once she'd gotten what she needed for now she'd pocket her phone and grab up her coffee to take drink. Vampires and Fae in the same house with sugar, this was going to be funny.
Alex Vipond: She didn't know the half of it.... Alex smiled and nodded. "You've your pick of rooms, and if none are satisfactory, there's always the guest house. There are only two rooms of the six in the main house that are being used, mine and Gus's. Gus... is my dog." And yes, the dog had his own room. Once people saw the dog, they fully understood the reasoning behind the dog having his own room.
fae fleur: When Jade smiled and spoke up, reassuring her of sweets galore, one side of her mouth lifted again in an Alex-Alike smile, one dimple briefly emerging to frame her expression. She turned to pick up the frozen Arliss and looked at her father, unable to keep from giggling musically when he mentioned a dog with his very own chambers. Her giggle had a s l i g h t l y rotten edge to it but not nowhere as mischievous as her mother's. Arliss was getting more and more antsy -- and there he went, alive, like something from Narnia, just gracefully springing from her arms and trotting off, with a teenage fae hot on his heels. "I'll be right back! Any room is fine with me! Arliss!"
Moonlit Mortal: It was time for Jade to book, she was tired and she was sure the two had things to discuss. Slipping her phone back in her pocket she slung an arm around Alex in a side hug until the Fox came to life and she blinked "What the hell.. " Curiously watching she blinked again and she would have to see that again to believe it. Looking to Alex she rubbed an eye with her hand "It's time for bed...I'll get this planned and see you later..."
Alex Vipond: "Careful of the cats!" yes, cats as in more than one. They tended to have the run of the place and well, the three kittens he'd raised together were found out in the alley behind the place so... yes, they'd stayed. He looked at Jade and shrug. "It's a Fae thing..."
fae fleur: "Arliss!" It was alright, foxy was just a little spooked. This side was new to him too. He stopped and she picked him up, and he was alive but docile still. He'd show no inkling what so ever towards the cats. Kittehs safe. Wandering back to her father, she wished Jade a good night and stopped, petting Arliss, big brown eyes on her father. "When can I see my room?"
Alex Vipond: "Now, if you like. We can go home and I'll show you around and you can take your pick." he smiled to her, then offered his hand out to Arliss so the animal could get to know him. He may well get bitten, but it wouldn't be the first time, as the scars on his face could attest. Though that had been his sister's Spaniel... And yes, Gus had been Alex's way of compensating for a rather intense fear of dogs. The huge canine had been more than therapeutic.
fae fleur: Nah for real, where she came from, people-species-critters-creatures were equal. Thus the fox was chill and used to various types, though Alexandre the Vampire did have a different scent. Foxy was curious but for real's docile. Calla however was not quite as docile. "I have never had my own room before. I can't wait to see this." She'd always shared a room with her sister or with one of the goblin kidlets. So this was not just new but exciting. "I just have to go back on my side real quick in the morning. I will only be gone ... as long as it would take you to get in the wash bucket."
Alex Vipond: "Shower." he nodded, and chuckled, then gathered up the trays, the veggie and meat trays that is, and carried them toward the stairs and for the kitchen as he spoke over his shoulder, "Give me just a few minutes to lock up..." And once he was up the stairs, he put the trays away, and pulled a bottle of his own out, downing it, cold, and not caring. He rinsed the bottle, put it with the empties to go back and then rinsed his mouth; a fresh stick of gum slipped between his teeth and then he was carrying down the lid to the desert tray. That they'd take home with him, the other stuff would be crew chew for the office and band members alike.
fae fleur: She waited, Arliss in her arms, patient and mute and oh so very excited about having her very own room -- which she'd totally invite her sister or the goblin kidlet in to bunk with her, so, not sure why she was excited. Oh. Well t h i s was going to be interesting. Nature versus Nurture again. When her father came back, she smelled something synthetically sweet--- the gum--- and.... Her nose did the white rabbit thing again and she almost craned her neck. She looked uncomfortable for a moment because she wasn't supposed to talk about this in The Veil. "Did you smell that? It's blood. That salty iron smell." She inhaled, fully, like an ex-smoker trying to inhale his pal's Salem stick.
Alex Vipond: "You can smell that?" And yes, that had him stopping in his tracks because he was trying not to freak his kid out with his dietary habits. Sure he could consume food, but it didn't do dick for actually providing nourishment. "I'm sorry, I was just feeling a bit peckish, and grabbed a quick bottle... I was hoping the gum would kind of kill what was left of the scent... how did you smell that, actually." Did her mother have that keen sense of smell? Troian hadn't, at least he'd never asked her.
fae fleur: She k n e w what Vampires ate. She was Learned. Brown gaze going to him when he explained, she sort of frowned at him gently when he apologized for...eating what he needed to eat. Typical fae, she believed everyone should be themselves. Her mother could not smell things q u i t e as well as Calla could, neither could her sister. No idea about Troian gal. She nodded, still afraid to speak because she could get in trouble on her side. "I can smell it. It tastes ... good. But I can't ask people to drip their cuts into a goblet anymore because...because..." Now she was really stammering. She didn't know how to tell him that His Kind (or their hybrid freak offspring) were not allowed in the Veil -- they posed too much a threat to all those sweet smelling Fae.
Alex Vipond: "Holy shit." That would be like taking a vow of celibacy and moving into a nudist commune in Studio City. "It would seem you've inherited more than musical talent and looks." Sad, but true. Alex knew his genes had been altered on a molecular level when he was turned. He didn't know why he was different from other vampires. Hell even Cas couldn't tell him that other than to spout the usual, it's God's will... Whatever the fuck that meant, which frankly Alex was of the opinion that God was a smart assed sadistic bastard at times.
fae fleur: "I don't want any or anything," she whispered, for real whispered, as if the Elders or whoever could actually hear her and might go ahead and banish her from The Veil. Honestly it did smell good. It smelled a l m o s t as good as sugar but aside from the completely fucked up urge to lick blood now and then, she wasn't much of a Vampire. For whatever reason, even if it was wrong and ill timed, she giggled musically when he said she'd inherited more than a love of music. Because. Well, it was so true.
Alex Vipond: "Do you have...." he lifted a hand and gestured with his index finger to his teeth, before tipping her head up, fingers beneath her chin as he bared his teeth at her to get her to do the same. Anyone passing on the street and glancing in would wonder what the fuck they were doing.
fae fleur: Fangs. He was wondering if she had fangs, even Calla the New could figure that one out. Her face tipped up, she opened her mouth. No fangs. S o m e of the Elders claimed that her canines were slightly longer than usual, but even if that was true, certainly no viable fangs. Just that odd, odd, odd longing now and then to taste blood. Her parents had given her royal jackpot of fucked up DNA here.
Alex Vipond: Just because she didn't have them, didn't mean they couldn't present at some point, though if they were going to, it would seem puberty would have been the time for that to happen. As for the pronounced canines, Alex had always had those. Back then it wasn't studied but now it was known to be a result of high levels of testosterone in utero. And yes, she'd gotten the jack pot for fucked up genes. "Well, you don't have to worry, I don't think." he smiled and caressed her cheek, a loving, doting pat given, before he moved to start shutting off the lights and locking doors.
fae fleur: "I'm not worried. I like how it tastes." Her cheek plumped beneath his touch due to the smile emerging and she held Arliss, who was still chill, waiting to go to her father's castle, or cottage or --- or whatever kind of abode he might live in. He seemed to have a lot of money so she was half expecting to see many lavender crops or peppermint once they got there. But no, he made his money as a Musician.
