Alex Vipond: Ki was in the wind, Mars was dead. Funeral arrangements would be made soon, no doubt, but as to what, when and where, Alex had no clue. As it was, he was looking to do his best to try and get drunk. Sadly, it was something he'd yet to experience. The closest he'd ever gotten was a freshy with so many different pills in her system; it was kind of hard to understand how she wasn't dead. That was the night he'd hung upside down from the balcony rail at Trinity by the knees and then passed out in his car in the parking lot. Pre-ring, in point of fact. Fortunately the car was limo/uv tinted. Alex pulled into the lot, and shut down the Jag, then looked over at Ian. "Mars, the big blond dude you met in LA, the one with the teenaged son...." Alex paused, looking out the windshield without really seeing anything. "He's dead." Popping the door open, Alex stepped out of the car, pulled his smokes and lit one up, taking a lean against the side of the car for the moment, rather than heading inside.
Ian Lighter: ::he climbed out of the car:: Oh my God, What happened? I’m so sorry.
Alex Vipond: "Something with one of the cases they were working on for Paragon Security. One of the dudes they were investigating..." Alex shook his head. "I don't know the details, all I do know is things went sideways and Mars ended up dead." Alex took another drag, smoke trailing from his nostrils as he exhaled.
Ian Lighter: Anything I can do? ::he just leaned against the vehicle. Didn’t smoke:: Yanno those things'll kill you. ::indicating the cigs:: and mess up your singing voice.
Alex Vipond: "So I hear..." Alex had been smoking Camels off and on since they were introduced by RJ Reynolds in 1913. They didn't really do much to him. They didn't do much for him either. It was simply a nervous habit. One he kept away
from his fans as much as he could. Didn't need them getting hooked because they thought it was cool, because he did it.
Ian Lighter: ;:he let it drop, Alex was a big boy and could make his own decisions..::
Alex Vipond: "I still can't believe it, you know?" Alex shook his head as one ankle crossed over the other in his lean against the Jag. "I was mad at him, you know? Over the shit with Ki. He was dying and I was mad at him...."
Ian Lighter: Hey man, don't feel bad about your feelings... They're honest...
Alex Vipond: "He shouldn't have been alone." Alex drew in a breath and let it out slowly. "He just shouldn't have been alone."
Ian Lighter: :: just nodded in agreement::
Terri x Kurai: Terri teased him about the irony of it all the time. Tonight, she was in a dark mood in particular herself, sitting inside the bar in the stereotypical dark corner - if there was one. She wore black wide legged pants with the usual hardware and a black tank top with patterns of red roses under a leather vest which went down to her knees. Chair was tipped back on two legs with feet propped up on the table crossed at the ankles. In her solitude, she toyed with a tendril of shadow, letting it lace between her fingers idly while icy blues stayed focused on surroundings.
Alex Vipond: Alex took one last drag on his smoke and then rolled the fire out, pushing from his lean as he did so to crush the ember out under his boot. Alex was, by and large, dressed as he usually was, though instead of some whimsical t-shirt and ripped jeans, he'd opted for a simple black on black. Even the leather jacket he wore in yes, 80 degree weather, was black. Alex started for the door; the butt of his Camel tossed into the sand can on his way by.
Ian Lighter: ::he was clad similarly, but no jacket.. would have died in it. A quick glance around to make sure there wasn’t anyone in the parking lot who might be paing Alex undue attention::
Terri x Kurai: Black was its own color, you didn't have to pair it up with anything. Terri was being briefly distracted by one of the many scantily clad employees. Not for the usual reasons some would be staring, but because she was wondering wtf she hadn't noticed this before. Just what the hell kind of bar did she come to anyway? She didn't see any stripper signs out front... (done)
Alex Vipond: No strippers, just scantily glad girls and grunge. It was a theme. Stepping inside, Alex looked around, spotted Terri hiding there in the back, a nod given her before he moved to the bar to order a round, and then he hooked his thumb toward the table. "Just keep 'em coming." And then he was crossing the room, heading Terri's way. Surely she'd heard by now.
Terri x Kurai: Yes, she heard, but it took a lot more willpower to turn her head in Alex's direction and moreso for eyes to flicker that way - making a mental note. Fingers released that tendril of shadow and it disappeared discreetly before red lips parted with a smile - that dark mood being swallowed down as usual and just set aside to dwell in another time. "I envy you." She admittedly bluntly, shifting to drop legs off the tabletop and instead sit with one crossed over the other in her chair - after kicking two chairs out for him and Ian. (done)
Ian Lighter: :: he'd been about to sit a circumspect distance from them, amazed thaqt Alex had spotted her at the door, he sure as hell couldnt. not until they drew closer. But at the invitation, Ian sat at the table with them:: "Hi Terri"
Alex Vipond: "Do you?" Alex dropped into a chair, just as the waitress arrived with their drinks. "I really don't feel enviable at the moment." Lifting his drink, he knocked it back, yes, he realized that was a waste of damned fine whiskey, but he was hoping to at least get a buzz going. Probably should have downed a fifth before leaving the house. Fucking metabolism.
Terri x Kurai: "Hey Ian..." She said with a smile though it dropped when hearing Alex's reply. No, the little vampire hermit had not come out from under her rock in some time so had no idea of anything having happened. In fact, there was a brief sideways glance given to Ian as though looking for a sign of whether she wanted to inquire or not. "I... ok..." She said slowly, eyes having returned to Alex. (done)
Ian Lighter: ::when she looked at him, he gave her a slight nod. Though he was unwilling to tell her about Mars, if Alex didnt::
Alex Vipond: "I take it you've heard." She was usually dark and brooding but this was a little too dark and brooding to not know.
Terri x Kurai: "Heard what?" She asked genuine concern there. Honestly, her contacts in Seattle were just two people - Alex and Adrienne. And she hadn't been out and about to see either of them in a while. (done)
Alex Vipond: Fuck. Alex shook his head. "Mars. Actually, that's just one part of the fucktastic weekend. The first being that Ki ran off. TC's out looking for him, so is Sasha." Speaking of which, Alex hadn't called Mac yet to let him know about Mars. Pulling his phone as the waitress brought the next round, Alex paused to drop his Amex down. "Just run us a tab, will you?" And then he was dialing Mac.
Ian Lighter: :: Ian ordered a coke. alcohol on duty wasn’t a great idea::
Alex Vipond: Well good. Ian could be designated driver, because if Alex had his way, he was gonna get tore up, no matter how high the bar tab had to go to get there.
An OId Wolf: "Chief McCoy."
Alex Vipond: When Mac picked up, Alex leaned back in his chair, one hand dragging through his hair in that nervous way he had. "Mac, it's Alex. Still no word yet on Ki, but there's more..." He paused, lifted his glass, and took a goodly drink, before setting the whiskey back down on the table. "Mars is dead." No sense in pussyfooting around the issue. "Some shit with a case they were working on. Mars took the dude on alone, and ... he's gone."
An OId Wolf: "Death is a part of life. Mars was always headstrong, and he was a wolf with no master. I'm not surprised."
Terri x Kurai: Terri paused... listening to Alex's side of the conversation and frowning. She remember Ki from the LA party and only met Mars once, but knew he and Alex were close friends. In fact, she remembered a story about Mexico he told her once in confidence to sort of help her through a rough patch. She leaned back in her chair and looked down at the table, there wasn't much she could say except only offer support in the loss. (done)
Alex Vipond: "Yeah." Alex nodded, even though there was no way Mac would see it, maybe he'd hear his head rattle... "I just thought you should know." Alex dragged his hand through his hair once more. "If they don't scatter, there's going to be a large ... party of people looking for a bit of guidance."
An OId Wolf: "They know where to find me. I'm not going to press the issue. I wasn't aware of what this security company had going on, nor did I really care. The pack is here for all wolves, but I'm not going to beg." Mac cleared his throat, and set his drink aside. "I appreciate the heads up. Who is working his arrangements?"
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne had been out of commission most of the day and it fucking sucked. It wasn't until late afternoon that she was feeling well enough to get out of the house and get some errands done, which was why she was arriving so late. With the Range Rover parked across the street, she tapped the fob to lock it before tucking it into her front pocket and lightly jogging across the street to avoid getting hit. Dressed comfortably in skinny jeans, a pair of black Toms and an oversized white t-shirt with PARIS sprawled across the front, she pushed her hair back out of her face before pulling open the door and stepping inside.
Terri x Kurai: Terri glanced to the entrance out of the corner of her eye when the door opened and saw Adrienne. She lifted an arm and waved her over - not entirely thinking whether or not she would see the trio in the shadowy confines of the back corner. Discreetly, a shadow tendril would pull on the leg of a nearby chair at another table just enough to be in Terri's hand and thus look like dragged it over to their table herself despite having not gotten up. (done)
Alex Vipond: "I believe his fiancée is, I'm not entirely sure. I'm worried she may well be overwhelmed. She's..." Alex let out another breath, hand dragging through his hair again, "She's pregnant with Mars' kid." When the door opened, Alex looked over, and a ghost of a smile touched his lips. No matter how crappy he felt, Adrienne's mere presence could lift him up.
Wrinkled Black: It was a good thing Terri waved since Adrienne was on auto-pilot to the bar. She smiled their way and waved back, letting them know that she'd seen them, but continued on to the bar to get a bottle of water. A little too impatient for table service, hence her cracking it open and taking a sip on the way to the table. "Hey, Terri, Ian... Thanks." Said for the chair with a brief blink at the trick, but before she sank into it she was leaning to press a kiss to Alex's temple since he was on the phone.
Alex Vipond: Alex smiled at her, pressing into the kiss, his free hand taking hers and giving it a squeeze.
Terri x Kurai: Adrienne didn't know about her? She'd have to make a mental note of that... not that she particularly cared tonight. Kind of in that who cares kind of mode. "Hey Adrienne..." She greeted, an arm crossing over her stomach before she looked over at the silent Ian. "You liking Seattle so far?" (done)
Ian Lighter: ::a smile to Terri:: Seattle is interesting. Hello Adrienne.
Wrinkled Black: She'd only just met the woman a few weeks ago! The squeeze to her hand was returned as she sat down, pulling his hand into her lap to just keep a hold on it. Catching Terri's gaze, she tipped her head toward Alex questioningly; curious as to whom he was talking to. A lot of calls had been made in the last twenty-four hours.
Terri x Kurai: Terri gave a shrug of her shoulders. "Someone called Mac." Was all she could tell her, then giving a nod to Ian. "You don't get out much either do you?" She asked, biting back a chuckle. (done)
An OId Wolf: "I don't think I've met her before; what's her name?"
Alex Vipond: "Lana...." Alex had to stop and think what the hell Lana's last name was. When it came to him he mentally slapped his forehead. "Kirah... Her name is Lana Kirah, she lives at 5634 39th Avenue West, Seattle." Cupping the phone, seeing the look from Adrienne, he mouthed Mac to her.
An OId Wolf: "Okay. Is she a wolf too?"
Alex Vipond: "Uh no. She's a very ... unique lady," to put it mildly.
Terri x Kurai: Terri snorted hearing Alex's description of Lana.
An OId Wolf: "I see. Well, I'll leave the arrangements to her then. Feel free to put the word out to those interested in planting their roots here. We'd be happy to have them."
Alex Vipond: Alex shot Terri a behave look after she snorted, and then went back to the phone conversation. "I will, and thanks, Mac."
Wrinkled Black: Very, very mildly. Adrienne nodded with a silent 'Ah' before settling back in her chair, her lips twitched a little as well, particularly for Alex's telling Terri to behave.
Terri x Kurai: A roll of her eyes was given and a shake of her head. Yeah, she would behave... for the sake of not wanting to risk having her head bitten off.
An OId Wolf: "Yes sir. Stay safe."
Alex Vipond: "You too." Alex hit end, and then laid his phone down on the table. "So how are you feeling?" Alex looked back at Adrienne.
Wrinkled Black: "Better, thank you. You?" Not asking in a judging sort of way, though she figured since he was still coherent he hadn't gone too far with the drinking yet.
Alex Vipond: It was going to take a lot to get him incoherent. "Better." he smiled to her, gave her hand another squeeze and then lifted his glass to take a sip before he looked back at her. "Are you hungry?"
Wrinkled Black: Her nose scrunched for that. "Nooo.. This is good for now." She lifted her bottle to indicate what 'this' was before taking a sip from it.
Ian Lighter: ::ever feel like everyone knows something you don't? Or that you are on the outside of a non inclusive group? He took his coke and stood, a small nod to them all, then took himself to a nearby table where he had a better vantage point with which to do his job::
Terri x Kurai: She blinked, looking as Ian left, though her attention was then stolen by her phone going off. Pulling it out of her usual back pocket place, she peered at the text before firing one back and standing up. "Well, that's my cue." She said, tucking her phone back into her rear pocket. "Sorry about your loss Alex, if either you or Adrienne need anything..." She just let it trail off from there. (done)
Alex Vipond: "Thanks, Terri." Alex nodded, "And thanks." Alex glanced over at Ian as he basically staked the bar out, and then he looked back at Adrienne.
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne followed Ian's departure from the group, then leaned in toward Alex. "I feel kind of bad he doesn't know, but at the same time...I think I'd feel worse if he found out."
Alex Vipond: "I know, kid doesn't need that kind of revelation. He doesn't need to know the monsters under his bed are real. Even if they do want to have tea and cookies with you."
Wrinkled Black: That had her snickering, leaning in to give him a more proper kiss. "Well, some of them."
Alex Vipond: Alex smiled, and leaned in, the kiss returned and then he nodded at her words. "Yes, some of them." Well, those who were well behaved. He really couldn't see Alea or Sebastian doing something like that.
