Wrinkled Black: One would think that in a nice neighborhood such as Broadmoor that they'd have a park nearby. Golf course didn't count. So the kids were loaded up into the SUV and driven to Madison Park to run about the beach until some cops on bicycles came by and reminded them that beach was closed at 7pm. Oops. But the park was still open, so they claimed the grassy slope. Adrienne was propped up on an elbow, feet stretched out before her as she tossed a tennis ball for Gus for the fifteenth time. Sherman hadn't come back with his yet, his legs were smaller. "So do I get to know what your big Home Depot plans are?" He'd seemed pretty giddy when he came home.
Alex Vipond: "Yes." Alex nodded. "I figure a kid needs a rocking horse, right?" he looked at her and grinned. "Well in the process of looking for plans for a rocking horse, I found the plans for a rocking motorcycle. So... yeah. I'm going to build the Peanut a rocking motorcycle. I figure I should have it done by the time he's born." And no tennis balls for Gus, he tends to swallow them. It was a much distressed basketball... or what had once been a basketball. Now it was more like a basket bowl.
Wrinkled Black: Fine. Ball thing that was thrown more like a Frisbee thanks to its shape. Brows went up as she listened, then her jaw was dropping as she laughed. "Oh my God, that's awesome! I didn't realize you were so crafty." She knew he made that table at the studio, but a rocking horse? Er...bike? That took some talent! "I mean...I know you can handle your wood and all, but..." Oh yeah, that grin turned cheeky.
Alex Vipond: Alex grinned and leaned into her. "I prefer it when you handle my wood." A kiss was dropped to her lips, once, twice, before he leaned back enough to regard her without going cross eyed. "That's why I want to start now. I want to make certain I have all the kinks worked out by the time Peanut is born."
Wrinkled Black: Her grin widened against his lips as she returned those kisses. "Oh, trust me, babe. So do I." Brows waggled before she was cracking up, shaking her head. "I'm sure it's gonna be awesome. The whole nursery needs to be awesome." And in case he didn't realize just how awesome, she gave him the devil horns to clarify.
Alex Vipond: "Speaking of which, I picked up some paint samples. Figure we can paint swatches on the walls to see what we like the best. Then... paint over it all with the final color. If we get it done, more sooner than later, the room won't smell of paint when Peanut arrives."
Wrinkled Black: "Ooo, good call." Chuckling, she settled back in the grass, tucking a hand behind her head and looking up at the stars. Those few that could be seen, at least. "You know, these are going to be the most agonizing six..ish..months ever. We'll want nothing more than for them to be done and over with so that he'll be here, but at the same time we'll be freaking out as it gets closer, wishing we had more time."
Alex Vipond: "Oh, God...." he chuckled and stretched out beside her, one arm folded behind his head as the other hand rested on her belly, his thumb brushing her over her clothes. "And growing up. Everyone talks about how fast their kids grow up. I don't want to blink and have our kids in college, you know? I want savor it."
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne turned her head, smiling up at him. Except for when both dogs returned for a dog pile on them both. She couldn't help a grunt as Gus draped his front legs over her thighs. Little Sherm just settled in between the two of them like a prudish chaperone, which had her chuckling. "They really do, in a blink of an eye. But it's going to be awesome. Terrifying at times, sure, but awesome."
Alex Vipond: Alex grunted when Gus pinned them down, but at least he wasn't stepping on his balls this time. That was progress. Sherman got a chuckle and then he was smiling at Adrienne. "Well, at least the terror hasn't hit yet." Yet being the operative word. "To be honest it seems like a dream." He shifted as best he could with the dog across them, to look at her. "If it is, I don't want to wake up."
Wrinkled Black: No stepping on Alex's balls, she was rather fond of 'em. Ahem. "Yet." Yup, she'll say it. Snickering, she reached to scratch behind Sherman's ear, since she couldn't quite reach Gus's. "If you'd like me to give you a detailed
play-by-play of exactly what this Peanut is doing to me in an effort to make it more real for you, I'd be more than happy to." Cynical, yes, but she was getting damn tired of feeling like crap all the time.
Alex Vipond: Leaning, twisting to lean, he dropped another kiss to her lips. "I'm sorry you got all the suck and I got all the fun part of the deal." He smiled. "And I have noted a few things the Peanut has done to you."
Wrinkled Black: She chuckled as she teased his lips with hers. "Yeah, yeah. Just remember that when he's crying at 3 a.m. and I call 'not it.'" Don't think for a second she won't. Only fair! An eyebrow went up and she lowered her chin, trying to eye her chest. Yes, her bras had been feeling a bit snug lately. "Of course you have."
Alex Vipond: "I find it quite endearing." he smiled, then kissed her again. "And I have no issue with getting up at three A.M. to take care of the Peanut. It's the least I can do, after all the work you're putting into the new release."
Wrinkled Black: As he kissed her, she reached her hand up to trail her fingers through his hair, grinning. "New release, I like that." She then moved her hand over her belly (and his hand if it was still there). "You hear that, kiddo? You'd better go platinum."
Alex Vipond: "I have no doubt. Our kid is talented, I can tell." he chuckled, fingers lacing with hers. "Top of the charts." he leaned down and kissed her belly, then scratched the ears of the dogs that seemed to want to horn in on the action.
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne bit her bottom lip as she watched him, not only to keep it from trembling, but also to keep her grin from splitting her face. "We may also be slightly biased..." But really, what parent predicted that their child was going to be a deadbeat dumbass?
Alex Vipond: "Highly biased, no doubt but our kid has good breeding on his side." Lifting her hand to his lips, he brushed them to her fingers. "What do you want to do with the nursery? This nursery, the one here," because yes, they had more than a few.
Wrinkled Black: "Yeah, I mean...look at his Daddy." Speaking of biased. "You know that crib I showed you, the see-through one? I think the black version would look really cool with a kind of rock star theme." Seemed more than fitting!
Alex Vipond: "I think that would be cool." He nodded. "What about the color scheme? What colors do you want?"
Wrinkled Black: "Black and grey for sure..." Eyes turned upward as she thought about it. "With, likeā¦ red accent? Maybe blue?" She shrugged, chuckling. "Might have to see what's out there."
Alex Vipond: "I would totally go for red." Well it was his favorite color. "We can start painting tomorrow if you feel up to it. And if not, I can start painting and you can tell me if it sucks or not." She may not be able to handle the fumes.
Wrinkled Black: She chuckled, nodding. "Figured you would." See? Already she knew him well. His eagerness to paint had her grinning. "Slow down, turbo. We gotta do some actual planning and designing first before we do any painting. And if we do it right, we may not have to do any redesigns for the next few years. Rock star's kinda all ages, y'know?" There was some nursery decor out there that just screamed BABY too loudly and was thus very short-lived.
