Wrinkled Black: The flight was long enough as it was at five and a half hours, but add the inability to get comfortable and, well.. Needless to say, Adrienne was eternally grateful when they were able to check in right away at the Plaza and go straight to their rooms. By midday she was awake and feeling mostly human again, and the finishing touch was a shower to wash away that travel feeling. Wrapped up in a bathrobe--she really did love these things!--she leaned against the windowsill as she toweled at her hair and looked out over Central Park. "I've forgotten how beautiful this is. Media just doesn't do it justice."
Alex Vipond: "No, it doesn't." Alex smiled and slipped in behind her, arms wrapping around her waist, one hand resting on her belly. He'd slept through much of the flight, though there were moments of wakefulness from time to time as checked on Adrienne. In those times she was actually asleep, he let her be; in those moments when she was awake, he'd see to whatever needs she had, be it a drink from a flight attendant to getting his narrow ass out of the way so she could get up and stretch her legs. Now however, as they stood at the window and looked out over Central Park, he nodded. "It is beautiful. And from here it looks so serene, so peaceful. And down on the street, there's an energy that is unmatched, anywhere." He chuckled and kissed the side of her neck.
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne's smile warmed, her hand moving over his arm and then settling on his hand to move it just slightly so he could feel a kick. It was no wonder she couldn't get comfortable, what with the Peanut moving around as much as he was lately. Kid needed to get on her sleep pattern, stat. "There's a few places in the park where it's just as serene and peaceful as it looks. You'd never know you were in one of the busiest cities in the world." She chuckled, the shoulder opposite of his kisses lifting in a shrug. "So I've heard. Last time I was here, horses and buggies were still rolling along the streets along with the cars."
Alex Vipond: "The last time I was here, was like three years ago, and I didn't have time to just take it in. It was Airport, hotel, radio spot, sound check, show, and hotel to pack what little had been unpacked... basically my tooth brush and other grooming supplies, and then back to the airport." He nodded. "For all traveling I've done, I rarely get to see anything."
Wrinkled Black: Chuckling, she turned in his arms so she could slip her arms around his waist, grinning up at him. "Then I'll do my best not to confine you to the hotel room, tempting as it may be. Where do you want to go, what do you want to see first?"
Alex Vipond: "Well, we should go see Edward. You'll like him. He's got this... way of pulling people in, you know what I mean?" Alex was sure he wasn't explaining it well but she'd find out when she met him, what he meant.
Wrinkled Black: "Edward it is, then." Smiling, she pulled him in closer to her so she could kiss him. Slowly, leisurely, even teasingly. Even tugged at his bottom lip a bit when she pulled back, slipping from his arms so she could return to the bathroom to finished getting dressed. "He knows we're here, right?" She assumed Alex would've gotten in touch with him already, but figured she'd check.
Alex Vipond: That kiss left Alex with other ideas and when she slipped away, his heated gaze followed her. When she asked about Edward, he slowly pulled his thoughts in, and gave a shake of his head. "Um... Yes. Yes, I called him before we left." He nodded, giving that self-deprecating smile. "He did mention that Clarkson is torn up so traffic's going to be a bitch. We may want to be dropped off on the corner and walk down from Greenwich, which shouldn't be too bad; the building is right on the corner."
Wrinkled Black: Did he see the evil little grin she was wearing as she let the robe drop off her shoulders before completely disappearing into the bathroom? Muaha. Unfortunately for Alex, though, she had brought her clothes into the bathroom with her so when she emerged she was dressed in a light sundress and twisting her hair up into a somewhat sloppy bun in an attempt to battle the humidity. "I don't see why not. That's half the fun of New York, exploring the streets, isn't it?"
Alex Vipond: He was rooted to the spot for the moment, just taking in the sight of her, as she disappeared into the bathroom. Alex started after her then, nearly running into her as she stepped back out. Taking her hands in his, he stepped back to get a look at her. "How is it possible that you look more beautiful every day?"
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne chuckled, biting her bottom lip as she shook her head. "I think you're just saying that to delay our going out." Either that or he was being biased. Grinning, she pulled him back in for another kiss. "But thank you, it's good to know I haven't completely lost my touch."
Alex Vipond: Alex lifted his hand, cupping the back of he head and holding her in the kiss. By all indications, she still had it. In droves. Finally Alex lifted his head and took a step back. "If we don't leave, we won't be."
Wrinkled Black: A glance down between them was made before she laughed. "Don't blame me, it's not my fault you're so easily distracted." That grin was so damn cheeky.
Alex Vipond: "Not my fault you're so damned hot." He dropped another kiss to her lips and then grabbed the card key, his wallet and phone. His wallet was tucked into his hip pocket, his cash in his left front, his phone in his right front, along with the keycard for their room. "Okay, let's roll; the car should be here soon."
Wrinkled Black: "Enough of that." Muttered against his lips with a chuckle, and when he turned away she gave him a light swat to the ass. Unless he's wearing his studded jeans, then it was aimed at the hip. Since she didn't have any pockets she was taking a purse with her, snatching it up and following after him.
Alex Vipond: Nope, just typical blue jeans. Of course he did have that chain at his hip that was attached to his back pocket, rather than his wallet. He slipped his arm around her as they made their way to the elevator and downstairs, a slight smirk touching his lips as they rode the car down. "If ever there was an urge to pull the stop button..."
Wrinkled Black: Once more her teeth sank into her bottom lip, biting back a huge grin as she watched the numbers descend. "Alex, we only just got here. We don't need to be kicked out just yet, hm?"
Alex Vipond: "I'm just saying..." he gave her an ... attempt at an innocent smile and then he cracked up. "Okay, I'll be have. This is me..." he nodded as he leaned against the back of the elevator car, hands behind him. "Being Have."
Wrinkled Black: "I know what you're just saying..." Her lips were twitching, trying so damn hard not to crack up. Finally an irresistible sense of mischief overruled and she reached to slap that damn stop button. The elevator lurched to a stop and for a moment she waited. No alarm could be heard on their end, so she was snagging Alex's shirt and pulling him in for a kiss while she could.
Alex Vipond: His arms slid around her, no, further encouragement than hitting that button was needed and he backed her into the panel as he leaned into her, his tongue tangling with hers and they could always claim it was an accident, right? Maybe? Okay the video would show otherwise but that kiss was melting and well worth any admonishment they got for misbehaving.
Wrinkled Black: "Mm!" She chuckled into the kiss as he pressed her back against the wall, her arms tightening over his shoulders. They were safer there and less likely to move between them to get any clothing out of the way. No, that'd be far too scandalous. She couldn't help her leg drawing up against his, though. It's not her fault, he drove her wild! She did gasp, though, when a voice came muffled from the panel. "Maintenance, what's the problem?"
Alex Vipond: "Shit...." Alex leaned back and drew Adrienne with him. "Sorry, we leaned." he reached out, lips pressed together to keep from smirking and pulled the button back out into the run position. "Sorry about that."
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne had to keep her hand over her mouth to keep from cracking up, let alone say anything that'd tip off the maintenance worker as to exactly what they were up to. Here's hoping they weren't in view of the camera? Small odds, but either way she stepped to the other side of the car, hands behind her very much like he had earlier as she leaned back against the wall. "Honestly, Alex..."
Alex Vipond: Alex gave a sheepish smile and a shrug. "Can't help it. You drive me crazy." And that was when the doors open, and yes, maintenance dude was there, waiting for them. Alex gave him that sheepish smile and then took Adrienne's hand and led her out of the elevator. Another muttered, "Sorry," given as he slid past the dude, his arm going around Adrienne as he guided her toward the door.
Wrinkled Black: Her smile for the guy was pure innocence. Surely a lady such as herself, in her condition, couldn't possibly be doing anything untoward with her fiancé in an elevator, right? The closer they got to the door, however, Adrienne's composure was starting to crumble and she finally cracked the hell up just before they reached the entrance.
Alex Vipond: And that was all it took and Alex lost it. By the time they reached the walk, he was laughing so hard he had tears forming at the corners of his eyes. "Oh dear God!" the car he'd sent for arrived about then, and Alex heading for the curb, checked to make sure the driver was expecting them and not someone else and then he was pulling the door open for Adrienne. Once she was in and settled, Alex slid in, and then smiled at the driver, fist bump given and then he was giving the address. "43 Clarkson."
Wrinkled Black: Laughing, she pulled him in for one last, quick kiss before following him to the car. "If we get back and our key cards no longer work, I'm blaming you." She may have pulled the trigger, but it was his idea! Settling on the seat, Adrienne was looking out the window and reading the street signs intently. As they passed 54th Street, she pointed east. "Down there was where my old school's first building was. They relocated in the 1940's to its current spot on Fifth." Of course Alex would be clever enough to know that she would've attended that original school, but no need to let their driver realize that.
Alex Vipond: "Cool." Alex leaned to look out the window in the direction she'd indicated. "Edward used to have a place on Central Park West, but he moved. His ex-wife kept finding him." Not that she couldn't now, but she likely wouldn't. Coralline was nothing if not a snob.
Wrinkled Black: Her nose scrunched a bit at the thought. "Well that sucks." Adrienne was quiet for a moment as she sat more comfortably, taking his hand in hers. "You don't suppose we'll have that issue, do you?" As of yet, Meghan hadn't been an issue. But jilted exes could be ugly down the road.
Alex Vipond: "Honestly, no." Alex shook his head. "I've talked to her once, maybe twice, since the split, and each time it was my trying to talk to her. Too, last I heard she'd followed one of the Jones boys down to Texas, so..." Alex shrugged.
Wrinkled Black: She nodded as she listened. "Good. Don't get me wrong, I wish her well." If she remembered correctly, Adrienne had only met the woman once and very briefly. There was no reason for animosity towards the former Mrs. Vipond. "But it's a relief to know she wouldn't be making our lives a living hell."
Alex Vipond: When his phone buzzed, Alex leaned back, pulling it, and checking the message. he fired off a quick response of, Got it. and then he was tucking his phone away once more, and looking out the window. "Right here on Greenwich is good, my cousin said the street was torn to shreds." Alex nodded and looked back at Adrienne. "You have no idea. Edward's ex was constantly up in his grill. Not sure if she finally gave up or if she just moved on."
Wrinkled Black: Lips twitched just slightly at the 'up in his grill' bit but she tried to hide it. "Either way, I'm sure he's thrilled." Adrienne was fascinated by how thoroughly different the city was. Not surprisingly, once she'd stopped reading street signs, she had absolutely no notion as to where they were. "And it was that brief time three years ago that you last saw him?"
Alex Vipond: "Actually it wasn't even here we ran into each other, but yeah. He's been busy, I've been busy. We haven't had time to catch up as we should." Alex pulled his phone again, paid the driver, gave him his rating and then slid out, a helping hand offered Adrienne.
Wrinkled Black: "Thank you." She smiled to the driver before taking Alex's hand and climbing out, her bag pulled up to her shoulder. She continued to hold his hand, lacing her fingers with his. "I'm glad we're able to do this, then." With their party of two gaining a third, he's no doubt only going to be busier.
Alex Vipond: Lacing his fingers with hers, he smiled, and dropped a kiss to her lips as he led them off down Clarkson. It wasn't a long trip, since it was the first building on the street, and Alex pulled the door open, guiding her in, and then made his way to the elevator. He chuckled as he pressed the button. "We don't have time in this one; it's only a six story building."
Wrinkled Black: Snickering, Adrienne watched the elevator door, swaying their hands lightly with a youthful innocence. Which of course absolute crap. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
Alex Vipond: "Uh huh." he smirked as the doors opened up and he stepped in, drawing her in close as he pushed the button for three. "His apartment takes up space on the second, third and fourth floor, but his front door is on three."
Wrinkled Black: "Jesus, that's no time at all." Chuckling, she settled her head on Alex's shoulder as they waited. "We'll have to convince him that he needs to live in a high rise."
Alex Vipond: "I keep having this image of him having gone completely bohemian, wearing hemp clothes and love beads and smoking cloves." Alex chuckled as the doors slid open and he made his way toward Edward's door, Adrienne's hand given a gentle squeeze.
an Prionsa dubh: Alex wouldn't be far from it as Edward made his way to the door, having been given a heads up as to their arrival by way of security system. He wasn't wearing hemp, but he was in jeans, and a t-shirt that had Rocky and Bullwinkle on the front of it. Pulling the door open, he stepped back to let them in and then it was hug for Alex and a clap on the back, and Adrienne's hand being taken in his, and lifted to his lips as he gave her his most charming smile. "And you would be the beauty that has stolen this one's heart." he grinned as he straightened, a look shot to Alex before he looked back at Adrienne, his expression sobering. "I fear I must warn you. He snores. Horribly."
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne smiled warmly as she watched the two embrace, and when Edward turned his attention to her, she grinned. "It's so nice to finally meet you, Edward." To be honest, it was an honor, but it was difficult to be so proper with a man in a Rocky and Bullwinkle shirt. His quip about Alex's snoring had her laughing, her eyes rolling. "I know! Where were you six months ago? I could've avoided this whole mess." Grin.
an Prionsa dubh: "Alas, I was in the Sudan, doing some much needed relief work. It seems the government is quite opposed to actually delivering medicines where they're needed, without payoff to certain officials." He shrugged, and then motioned them in further. "Please, make yourselves to home." he swung the door shut and locked it behind them, then stepped past them to lead them to the living room, bare feet silent on the floor as he moved. "Can I get either of you something to drink?"
Alex Vipond: "Edward's big on charity work, otherwise he would have warned you off me sooner." Alex chuckled and nodded, then followed his cousin with his arm around Adrienne's waist. "Water would be good. Still a bit jetlagged from the trip."
Wrinkled Black: Grinning, she followed along after Edward. "Nothing wrong with that. He's helping those in need and I get the love of my life, win win. Snores and all."
an Prionsa dubh: "Ah, practical as well as beautiful, Alex you are marrying above yourself." Edward grinned, and then headed to the kitchen to get water and glasses. Once he had everything he headed to the living room, setting the tray down and setting the glasses out. "Please, have a seat." He smiled, looking between them. "So out with it. How did you meet? And how many of the rumors circling about the entertainment pages are true?"
Alex Vipond: "Oh don't get me started on those." Alex smirked as he followed Edward to the living room, hand giving Adrienne's a squeeze, and once she was settled, he'd settle beside her. "If you listen to everything they say, I dumped Meghan to hook up with a groupie. Truth of the matter is, my marriage was over, long before I ran into Adrienne, again."
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne laughed, setting her bag down on the edge of the couch before sitting herself. "Not just a groupie, a homewrecking groupie that got knocked up on purpose just so I could share in his limelight and money." She was snickering, reaching for one of the glasses with a quiet thank you. "But funny enough, we first met at one of his shows, back in the Camino days. I won the tickets from a local radio station."
an Prionsa dubh: "Really?" Edward grinned as he looked between them. "And you didn't...." he gestured between them as he sat in a chair facing them his own glass of water lifted. "At that time, I mean."
Alex Vipond: "Hey, I'm not a lecherous hump that chases fans. I'd been around the industry long enough, prior to that, to know it's not a good idea to get too intimate with fans. Paternity suits are just one outcome of that, even when you don't touch them."
Wrinkled Black: "No, no." Laughing, she shook her head. "It was just a brief meet and greet, all of...what, two minutes?" She looked to Alex with a grin before looking back to Edward. "Besides, I figured he was jailbait, he was such a young little blonde..." She couldn't rightly dodge an attack when she was sitting next to him and holding his hand, could she?
Alex Vipond: "Hey, that young blond jailbait look had thousands of screaming girls throwing panties at me." he would have goosed her but she had a glass of water in hand and Alex didn't want to start making messes.
an Prionsa dubh: "Jailbait girls." Edward couldn't resist and he shot a wink to Adrienne as he lifted his glass to take a sip.
Alex Vipond: "Jai..." he shot a look to Edward. "You're not helping, and she...." he hooked a thumb to Adrienne, "Liked it once she got up close and personal and could actually see me."
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne pulled a face, but she was all too amused. "Eeeuw, perv." Said with a nudge of her arm into his. "Smelled you, more like..." That was muttered into her glass as she took a sip. "But it's true, I really had no desire to go, but my roommate at the time was obsessed [/b]and dragged me along with her. Almost hate to admit it, but I had a pretty damn good time."
an Prionsa dubh: "Well, all is well in the end and here the two of you are now, together at last." Smiling, Edward looked between them and yes it was clear his cousin was happy. "So what are your plans while you're here?"
Wrinkled Black: "Took us long enough." She winked at Alex, then attention returned to Edward. "Playing tourists, first. I grew up in New York, so we thought it would be fun to show him where. After that, a drive up to Connecticut to feed someone's property addiction..." Snicker.
