Wrinkled Black: Okay, so Adrienne was beginning to de-stress. Finally. Plenty of weddings were pulled off with only a year (or slightly less) to plan. They can do this. After dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, they still had some time to wander the shops, so Adrienne slipped her hand into Alex's and she led him out into the mall. Her other hand was holding one of those light-up souvenir cups from the virgin daquiri she'd ordered, don't judge her. "Oh my God, babe..." She nodded across the way to the Seattle Team Shop--was THAT why he'd suggested this restaurant? Sneaky..--and led him inside. Yes, Adrienne was walking into a sports shop. But lookit the cute baby stuff they had!!
Alex Vipond: Fingers lacing with Adrienne's as she slipped her hand into his, he smiled at her, and then followed her gaze, and grinned. No, he hadn't planned it, but damned if that wasn't convenient. "Oh my God, look at this!" he walked over to a rack bearing the most adorable onesies, he'd ever seen, and yes, he'd seen a lot in recent months. "Baby.... we gotta get this..." He wasn't done, he was like a kid in a candy shop, and his eyes were pinging all around the room. Fangasm in 3, 2, 1....
Wrinkled Black: He was so damn cute, how could she say no? While his eyes wandered, Adrienne was nonchalantly draping a couple items over her arm. Screw baby registry, she was buying these now! A newborn sized footie coverall and the bodysuit and sweats set in a larger size for next season. Attention back on Alex, she grinned. "Would it be safer if I held on to your wallet?" Says the woman already picking shit out.
Alex Vipond: Alex chuckled. "It might at that." He nodded as he continued to browse and no, he wasn't a bit concerned about what they'd spend. As far as he was concerned they couldn't spend enough on Grayson.
Wrinkled Black: It wasn't the spending on Grayson that she was worried about.. But no, she wasn't actually worried, just busting his balls. "Aaaw.. I hope we have a girl someday." Grinning, she held up the little toddler-sized cheerleading dress so he could see.
Alex Vipond: "Oh my God..." he looked at it, and yes, he had to touch because he couldn't just look. He smiled at Adrienne and leaned in, a kiss dropped to her cheek. "One day." And he meant it. Now that he knew it was possible, and with the steps taken as he had... They would have more babies. One of them was bound to be a girl.
Wrinkled Black: Chuckling, she turned just in time so that kiss was to her lips instead. Muaha! "I must really love you, if I'm planning on dressing our children in football crap." It was muttered under her breath, since there were other customers in the store, but she knew he'd hear it. Which was why she was grinning as she hung the little dress back up.
Alex Vipond: Alex chuckled and slipped his arm around her waist. "Just wait. I am going to get you into a jersey. One day.... No matter how long it takes." Grinning at her, he was fully aware of the other people in the store, but they were just a couple out shopping, and it wasn't like he was going to bend her over the racks right there in the store... Okay maybe he thought about it for 2.2, before the thought of what TMZ would do with something like that hit him.
Wrinkled Black: Do not give this woman ideas. Keeping clothes on in public has been a struggle for this one lately. Ahem. "Mmmhm. Just so you can get me out of it." Ooo, lookit that cheeky grin. Not helping, Adrienne! "I guess, if I'm being honest, it's definitely more fun to watch when you're in the presence of die-hard fans."
Alex Vipond: "My screaming at the TV doesn't annoy you?" Chuckling, Alex moved with her through the store, checking various things out.
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne laughed, shaking her head. "Are you kidding me? It's hilarious!" In fact, there may or may not be a few videos she took on her phone all stealth like.
Alex Vipond: Cracking up, Alex found some pajamas that just had Adrienne's name on them, whether she knew it or not, and he held them out ot show her. "Check it out..."
Wrinkled Black: For a moment she blinked at the loud pattern, but then she was snickering. "You know, a small part of me hates me for actually thinking those are really cute..."
Alex Vipond: That had Alex laughing all the hard her and he flipped through the rack to find Adrienne's size. Yes, they wouldn't fit now, but then she'd need something for after, now wouldn't she?
Wrinkled Black: Hey, they if they had a stretchy enough waist, she could totally still wear the pants under the belly. Shirt? Well, yeah, that could be used later. Adrienne just laughed, shaking her head. "The things I do..."
Alex Vipond: Alex dropped another kiss to her lips as they continued to browse. "When we get done here we can wander, maybe hit the Disney store and see if they got any cute baby stuff."
Wrinkled Black: Grinning, the kiss was returned as she took the pajama set and draped that over her arm too so he could keep his hands free to browse. "Oh my God, speaking of dangerous.."
Alex Vipond: Nodding, Alex gave a chuckle. "Our kids are going to be the cutest ever." And yes, he was already planning ahead. Alex didn't do anything half assed. Provisions were already in place, to provide for Adrienne and Grayson should, God forbid, anything happen to him. Each subsequent child would be added to that; even though at this point it was simply a blanket that encompassed any current and future children. "How far apart do you think we should have them?"
Wrinkled Black: "Uhm, yeah." Like it was even up for debate? With a snicker she led him over to some of the Mariners stuff, picking out a Little Player set, the t-shirt looking like a jersey. "I was thinking two minimum, but ideally maybe three years? Call me selfish, but I want some quality time with Grayson before our attention's divided, you know?"
Alex Vipond: "That and if they're too close, they'll be heading out to school at the same time." Not exactly the same, but it would be nice to have one home while the other was getting educated. "We did say private school, yes?"
Wrinkled Black: "Exactly." It would be nice. And help keep them sane as parents. "I think after some homeschooling, yes. We need to make sure he doesn't run off and babble about what mommy turned into the night before." Though it was vague, she still kept her voice down. "But I think private school would help provide better security, don't you think?" The paparazzi hadn't been a total nightmare just yet, but there are whole sections in magazines dedicated to celeb kids.
Alex Vipond: "Yeah, I think so." He nodded. "Public schools I don't think are equipped to handle that kind of stuff." Alex paused, "That does bring up another question. When do we have 'the talk' with him?" And yes, he made air quotes with his fingers.
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne bit her bottom lip as she thought about that. "You know...I really don't remember having any kind of specific talk. My parents just...never held back what they were, you know? We never had a need for pets." She smirked at that. "The secrecy was always just kind of ingrained." A sheepish shrug was given. What she wouldn't give to be able to ask her parents directly how they managed it.
Alex Vipond: "How did you not have pets?" He couldn't imagine not having a cat or, now after Gus, a dog. He dropped his voice. "I mean it's one thing to play fetch with Gus, but can you do that with say your brother and not feel... odd?"
Wrinkled Black: Laughing, she shook her head. "I don't believe we ever played fetch together. But you know, there'd be days when we'd have a cat curled up on our lap." There'd been plenty of days before she was pregnant that were just 'rawr leave me alone I'm going to cat' days. "Of course we weren't overly smart about it all, keeping to big cities. I mean, I know my parents wanted to try and live life as normally as possible, which that helped. But honestly? I can't wait to go running in the woods." She missed that most of all, more so than alcohol and obscene amounts of caffeine.
Alex Vipond: Alex gave a nod. "Soon. Just another few months and then you can roam." And then he grew contemplative for a moment. "You know, if I could do that... anyone that pissed me off... I'd totally hike a leg on their tires."
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne nodded, chuckling. "It certainly has its perks, that's for sure. You can definitely get away with more shit." Eyebrows bobbed briefly before she was heading toward the register.
Alex Vipond: Chuckling, he followed her, one hand pulling his wallet as the clerk started ringing up their selections. "So Disney store and then maybe a trip to Baskin Robbins on the way out?" Ice cream was good, no matter the time of year. And it wasn't like they couldn't snuggle and get warm in front of the fire when they got home.
Wrinkled Black: "You really do know your way into a pregnant woman's heart, don't you?" Hard to tell whether she was more excited about the Disney store or the ice cream. We'll call it a tie. As the transaction was wrapped up, Adrienne smiled and thanked the clerk, reaching to pop her cup--it was empty and dry!--into the bag while Alex signed.
Alex Vipond: Signature given, he smiled at the clerk and then put his card and wallet away. Hand to the small of Adrienne's back, he guided her out, and then checked the time. "How about we skip Disney tonight, and head straight for Baskin and Robbins?" The mall was going to be closing soon and they could always come back later for the Disney store.
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne leaned a little to take a look at his watch; she really needed to get back into the habit of wearing one. "Ooo, good call. We could always browse their website." As they headed toward Baskin Robbins, her mind wandered and suddenly she remembered something, her eyes widening. As least she managed not to gasp and freak him out. "Oh my God! Disneyland!" Grinning, she tugged excitedly at his shirt. "We get to take him to Disneyland!" It was the little things, really.
Alex Vipond: Alex grinned and nodded. "Disneyland, SeaWorld, all of it," he couldn't help but grin at her enthusiasm. "We've got so much to show him."
Wrinkled Black: "Oh, man, that's going to be awesome." Her brow furrowed briefly. "But not until he's, like... three or so, that way he can actually enjoy it. Maybe it could be his big brother present." By then they should hopefully have someone: they could trust to leave a baby with so they could all enjoy it.
Alex Vipond: "There you go." He couldn't help but grin, the excitement of having a baby on the way was something that hit him often, no matter what he was doing, and the grin he wore now was always present when it did. He was happy, which was something he'd not been in a good while.
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne had learned that particular grin and it only made her smile all the brighter. It even earned him a kiss from time to time, like the one she planted on his cheek as they walked, her arm behind his back and her hand slipping into his back pocket. "I love you, you know." Just in case he wasn't aware.
Alex Vipond: Smiling at her, the kiss was returned in kind, and he chuckled. "I love you too." With his arm around her, he led her into the ice cream store. "Now, the question is, what to get...." Because the options were at times, over whelming.
Wrinkled Black: Leaning to look in the cases, her eyes roamed over the seasonal options and then widened. "Ooo, I know what I want." She grinned to the clerk behind the counter, letting go of Alex for a moment so she could pull out her own wallet. "Can I get a single scoop of the Trick Oreo Treat in a cup, please?" Did Alex really want her licking a cone in public? Probably not.
Alex Vipond: Well, that depends. Did she want to get laid in the parking lot? Alex was looking over the flavors and then his eyes lit up. "I'll have the pumpkin pi.... NO! The pumpkin cheesecake! Two scoops, cone." Yep, he was all in.
Wrinkled Black: Like she'd ever turn that down, c'mon now. She wasn't entirely innocent, especially the way she worked that spoon. As she was doing so, leaning back against the counter with her ice cream while Alex's order was getting scooped up. "I'm surprised they don't have pumpkin spice, like everyone and their mother does." It was muttered with a snort before sliding that spoon into her mouth.
Alex Vipond: "I think that's covered in the pumpkin pie and the pumpkin cheesecake, Babe." He chuckled and paid for the order, then handed Adrienne hers, before taking his own. "Shall we walk or grab a table?"
Wrinkled Black: Oh no, she was paying for this one. Hence her lightly smacking his hand when he reached for his wallet. Once the ice cream was paid for and a handful of napkins snatched up, she nodded to one of the tables. "Might be safer with that pile you've got there." She chuckled, shaking her head. "I never mastered the two scoops on a cone thing. I eat it too slowly." She liked to savor her ice cream/soup.
Alex Vipond: Chuckling when she smacked his hand away from paying, he shrugged, and grinned. "I guess I just inhale mine." It was new to him, and he really had no restraint when it came to things like this.
Wrinkled Black: Settling in a chair, Adrienne scooted as close to the table as she was able to avoid any spilling, leaning forward with her elbow on the surface and her chin in hand. "Okay, if there was a worldwide shortage of ice cream and all the world leaders came to you to pick the one flavor to be available for the rest of time, what would you chose?" Shockingly, she managed that with a straight face.
Alex Vipond: "Gotta be vanilla." He nodded, and then pointed at her with his cone. "Think about it. With vanilla ice cream you can add anything to it. Chocolate, strawberries, banana..." And he said that last in total Minion fashion. "Any other flavor is just not as versatile."
Wrinkled Black: Okay, now she was cracking up. "That was a very diplomatic answer, well done. Maybe you should've been a politician rather than a musician." Even as she said it her nose scrunched at the idea.
Alex Vipond: HIs own nose scrunched in response. "No..." Chuckling, he went to work on his cone, savoring the flavor. "But it is true.... You can add anything to it and make it different. You can't do that with something like... bubblegum flavor. It would be gross."
Wrinkled Black: "No, that's very true. Except maybe chocolate. It's pretty hard to fuck that one up." Says the woman who eats chocolate syrup drizzled French fries.
Alex Vipond: "That's what's so great about vanilla. You add Hershey's Dark Syrup and you have chocolate ice cream."
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne laughed, sitting up so she could dig back into her ice cream. "I concede, vanilla it is." She winked at him as she took a bite, making sure to suck that spoon clean.
Alex Vipond: Alex watched her, a waggle of his brows given. The first scoop was gone pretty fast, the second one, he played with a bit more, shoving it down into the cone, as he worked eating it down. And yes, he tended to get ice cream all over his mouth, but between his tongue and his napkin, he managed to not look entirely like a child.
Wrinkled Black: "I'm just so glad I've never craved sardine or pickled flavored ice cream." Another scrunch of her nose given as she took a bite, watching him with amusement. His looking like a child made him all the more adorable, really.
Alex Vipond: And that got another scrunch face from him. "That's... ewww." Cravings for certain foods he could understand, but cravings for out and out weird shit baffled him.
Wrinkled Black: "Tell me about it. Seriously, if I ever ask you for something like that, tell me no." It was a mighty big risk, provoking the wrath of a pregnant woman, but she'd never be able to forgive herself if she ate something truly disgusting like that.
Alex Vipond: I will do my utmost to dissuade you." Alex nodded and then took a bite, crunching into his cone. Chewing, he glanced around the mall. "Have you ever been here, at Christmas time?"
Wrinkled Black: Chuckling, she shook her head around a bite of her ice cream, waiting to swallow it before answering. "Last Christmas I was still in San Diego. Does it snow much here during the winter? I haven't had a white Christmas since...." She really had to think back to that one. "'96, I think?"
Alex Vipond: "It does." Alex nodded. "Streets freeze over, cars slide through intersections, it can get pretty hairy." He nodded. "But it's beautiful. And the mall here, they decorate, and it's just awesome."
Wrinkled Black: "Awesome. I love the holidays." She grinned as she watched him. "I'm really looking forward to having our first together, just the two of us." With a chuckle, she looked down and gave her belly a pat. "Hear that, kiddo? You stay in there until after the new year."
Alex Vipond: Alex chuckled, and nodded, smiling at her, his hand reaching for hers to give it a gentle squeeze. Our first Thanksgiving, our first Christmas and our first New Year. After that, we're golden, but for these firsts.... I wanna be just a little selfish."
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne's smile warmed and she returned the squeeze to his hand. "Exactly. Not to mention it'd be a hell of a damper on the holiday spirit if they're spent in the NICU." Quite frankly that would suck for a variety of reasons.
Alex Vipond: "yes." Alex nodded. "Let's hope he's kicking and raring to go and not in need of being there, when he's born on or near his due date." From his lips to God's ears.
Wrinkled Black: "Oh, he will be. He'll be kicking around until well after his due date, just to spite us." Or her specifically, since she's the one toting him around. But she was determined to let that be the case rather than the alternative.
Alex Vipond: Finishing off his cone, he managed to not drip it from the bottom, though in all honesty, he'd been sucking the soup from the bottom of the cone to keep that from happening. Wiping his hands, he leaned toward her. "You think he
may be able to shift? And if so, it doesn't hit until when? Puberty?" As if a teenaged boy wasn't going to have enough going on during that time... Idly Alex wondered if his voice would still break if he were to shift. Bark, squeak, growl....
Wrinkled Black: "It wouldn't surprise me one bit, really." Dr. Hunt had said something along the lines of his sharing a unique chromosome with her; if it wasn't the shifter gene, what else could it be? "Yeah, about puberty. I was thirteen, I think my mother was, too. Joey was about fifteen, but I don't remember the others." They were well over twenty years old by the time she'd come around.
Alex Vipond: "Fifteen's about right, that's about when the voice starts cracking." He nodded, looked around, and then glanced back at her. "So, you ready to head home?" Question is, would they make it out of the parking lot?
Wrinkled Black: "But he'll be well prepared, at least. My poor mother, she had no idea until it was actually happening to her." She couldn't imagine having to go through all of that alone. Even shuddered at the thought. At his question, she nodded and scooped up the remaining chunks of Oreo and Babe Ruth out of the soup to finish them off, then wiped her mouth on her napkin. "Ready, Freddy."
Alex Vipond: Rising, he plucked the bag from the empty seat at the table and then reached for Adrienne's hand with his free one. "Oh, and we're totally doing those baby's first ornaments..... you know, next year." He chuckled. "This year we can do a womb with a view ornament for him."
Wrinkled Black: "Oh, totally." Chuckling, she laced her fingers with his and lifted their hands up so she could kiss the back of his hand. "We should also pick a theme, you know how Hallmark does collector series? Pick a series and get each ornament every year."
Alex Vipond: "Oh, god, yeah... What to pick though? OH..." He smiled at her as they headed out of the mall and into the lot. "We need to do the hand and footprint in clay thing too with him."
Wrinkled Black: "We'll take a look online and see what they've got." Adrienne couldn't help chuckling at the suggestion. "We can do that, definitely. You've been browsing Pinterest again, haven't you?" Tease him as she may, she actually found it both really cute and really hot that he was so excited.
