Ian Lighter: ::Security was in full force. Had been for days prior to the event. More security had been hired for the day and each sec had a list of the workers who would be coming and going in order to set up for the event. All were halted at the gates, photo ID's checked against the wearer and the companies' list of those that were hired for the event. A full guest list was provided to each security person, along with good photos to be checked both on entering and when or if found wandering on the grounds away from the main group. Staff in the house was part security, to be in places in the house to monitor or show guests to the areas of the house which had public access... only those pre-approved press members were allowed entrance and were enjoined to be discreet during the event, or they would be encouraged to leave. All sec personnel had open communication, small handhelds with all the guest and personnel information and even as the Sec started arriving, their ID's were checked against the List of personnel that the security agency had provided. One had been sent away when he arrived, his name wasn't on the list, his ID wasn't available on the Agency list...despite his claim that one guy called in sick and he had been sent as a replacement. The agency had been contacted and notified. If he had been sent, where was the verification? ::
Melanie Mishoe: Mel the wedding planner had one of those radios, too. She was the puppetmaster, after all. So as to avoid having dozens of cars parked on the lawn, shuttles had been arranged to pick up guests at their respective hotels, available to return them at any time throughout the evening. Each vendor and their employees had been screened in advance; she's done high-profile events in the past and knew what to expect. The fact that there were plenty of supes in attendance made for the need of caution.
Ian Lighter: ::then once sec was in place, they had begun vetting the staff, the caterers, the musicians. And of course the Wedding Planner.. there were guards stationed at the gate to the entrance, but also patrolling the property::
Alex Vipond: Alex wasn't allowed to see Adrienne, and had not, in fact, seen her since breakfast. He was working on his tie, trying to get it tied, but after the fourth or fifth fail he gave up on it. He didn't need no stinking tie. To say he was nervous was an understatement. He'd been working on his vows for days, and had come up empty. Not that he didn't have anything to say; the problem was just the opposite. He had too much he wanted to say.
Ian Lighter: ::The monitors, and grounds cameras were being monitored full time and a few more had been added. This wasn't Ian's job, he had allowed the security agency to provide skilled operators to stay on shift at the carriage house. Backup generators were in place and ready to go online in the house, and Carriage House in case of a power outage.::
Nan Smith: Of course he wasn't allowed to see her! Nan would've smacked him upside the head if he tried. At 102 years old, the woman was running about the house nearly as much as the wedding planner. Finally, she shuffled her way to Alex's room and poked her head in, grinning. "You not gettin' cold feet are ya, boy?" She knew he wasn't, she was just picking on him for being so fidgety.
Alex Vipond: Chuckling at Nan, he shook his head. "Feet aren't cold, but I'm nervous. I keep having visions of tripping over my feet, or, God forbid, puking." Because no, he hadn't eaten today. Breakfast had been a warmed bottle as he spoon fed Grayson. As people began to arrive, Alex looked out the window, watching as the hired black cars circled the drive, dropped their passengers off, and headed back out again. Looking back at Nan, he smiled, gave a tug to his waistcoat, and then reached for his jacket. Slipping into it, he asked, "How do I look?"
Nan Smith: "You'd better not be pukin' on my Adri girl." She waggled her finger at him before stepping inside to get a better look at him. She brushed her hand over his shoulder, tugged his waistcoat as well, and squinted briefly at his chest. Or, more specifically, the lack of his tie. She looked as though she was about to scold him, but then nodded. "Suits ya."
Sarah E TayIor: Sarah climbed out of one of the black cars, standing up and brushing off her dress while looking around. Fidgeting with her necklace, she just sorta followed the path of the crowd to wherever they were supposed to go. (done)
Alex Vipond: "Thanks, Nan." Alex smiled, and then hugged her. "Okay, I am going to go downstairs and wait for my wife." He paused, grinning. "My wife." Okay, they weren't in the endzone yet, but he was still ready to spike the ball. Guests were being directed to the gazebo where the ceremony would be set up. A path of decorations had been set, so people could follow it.
Ian Lighter: :::all the cars were stopped at the gate and all riders were required to present ID and the invitation, The driver had his clipped to his shirt, but soon became known the security people. There were even a pair of EMT's attending the wedding acting as guests unless there was a medical emergency. A full crash cart, a couple of AEDs and first aid kit was stored in an unobtrusive place::
Nan Smith: The hug was returned and she pulled him down enough so that she could press a kiss to his cheek. Once he was on his way downstairs, Nan then went to Adrienne's room. Best friends for almost a century, she beamed at the apparent young woman sitting at the vanity and reached for the sunflowers to tuck into her braid. "He's nervous." Grinning for that!
Ian Lighter: ::The EMT'sw might be needed by the groom!::
Wrinkled Black: "He's not the only one..." Even though Adrienne smiled, it was clear she was trying to hold in her own breakfast, or what was left of it in her stomach. Lauren and Katie had taken Grayson to get ready and avoid getting Adrienne's dress messed up by sticky baby hands or drool. "It's silly, we shouldn't be."
Nan Smith: "Dem's good nerves, Adri girl." Nan chuckled, leaning in to press a kiss to her cheek as well. "It's right, this time."
Alex Vipond: Alex made his way outside, Grayson plucked up from Lauren's arms for the walk to the orchard and the gazebo beyond. The drape of fall colors and warm sunflowers hung everywhere, and Alex smiled at the sight. Once there, he let Katie take Grayson, after dropping a kiss to his son's cheek and then he moved toward the gazebo, greeting guests as they arrived, and trying to remember to just breathe.
Melanie Mishoe: The wooden chairs were arranged in a semi-circle around the gazebo, the rotunda itself adorned with sunflowers and other fall colors of maroons and reds and oranges. On each chair was a simple program, listing the date, the name of the minister presiding, along with the names of the best man and maid of honor; Ki Jones and Nanette Smith. And of course, Grayson Vipond, the ring bearer. Or as close to being the ring bearer as the almost nine-month-old could get.
IMythYou: Isa, Callie, and Gage arrived together. The Latina teen was all bright eyed and bushy tailed, curious about the set up for the wedding. Before they'd arrived in CT she wasn't much interested in even going but the more she checked out the place, talked to Callie about it, and texted back and forth with her friends she was actually looking forward to it. Also, it was nice to get away from RhyDin and all the serious crap that had been going on. As they followed the herd, she was looking around for familiar faces. –d
Alex Vipond: Alex's cousin, Edward, was there, as were Alec and Sawyer. Sasha, Styx and TC were also in attendance and settling into seats as Alex moved to the stand at the head of the aisle, and wait for his bride. It would be Ki who would take charge of Grayson during the ceremony.
Sarah E TayIor: Sarah was sitting down already when she saw Isa with Callie and Gage. Trying to be discreet of course, she waited til she hoped Isa would be looking her way before lifting a hand and waving her over. (done)
Ian Lighter: ::Ian was at the wedding site, ear piece in, monitoring the security, also took up a spot near Grayson. Alex and Adrienne could really take care of themselves in a pinch, his primary concern was for Grayson. He was glad a supe was part of the detail. he gave smiles to those he recognized, but it was pretty clear he was preoccupied::
Alex Vipond: Despite the fact that Ian was a guest, Alex knew better than to try and have him switch out of protective mode. It was too ingrained in the young man not to be 'on', even when off. It was part of the reason he was so invaluable.
IMythYou: Sarah spotted! She waved at the girl without bothering to try and be discreet and shuffled through the crowd to find a seat next to her... whether or not Callie and Gage followed didn't matter. –d
Wrinkled Black: Grayson was having a grand ol' time, fascinated by all the goings on and the colors and the people. Eventually he'd likely be overstimulated, but for now, he was content and didn't mind sitting in his ring bearer wagon that Callie would pull up to the gazebo. Finally Adrienne was ready and she and Nan made their way downstairs, waiting within the house for everyone to get settled.
Melanie Mishoe: The minister was directed to the gazebo and he smiled brightly, offering his hand to the groom. "Alex, good to see you again."
Alex Vipond: Band mates, friends, Alex's sister Nicole, all were filing in and taking a seat. When the minister greeted him, Alex turned to him and smiled, shaking his hand. "Good to see you too." He nodded.
Alex Vipond: Alex stood at the ready, and as the music came up, he turned, looking down the aisle, his pulse picking up as he clasped his hands before him. All thoughts of what could go wrong, his tripping, or puking on the minister... fled as he got that first sight of Adrienne.
Wrinkled Black: Soon enough a lone violinist began to play a verse of Ave Maria while Nan made her way from the back porch to the gazebo--bear with her, folks, she's old. Behind her came Callie pulling Grayson's wagon, a chalkboard sign of 'Here Comes My Mommy' attached to the back. Which just had Adrienne chuckling as she soon followed behind once the violinist started playing Pachelbel's Canon. A bouquet of fall sunflowers, her chuckling turned into the biggest grin as she got closer to the gazebo and got a good look at Alex.
IMythYou: Isa turned with the rest of the crowd to regard the bride and she smiled, whispering to Sarah. "She looks soooo pretty!" –d
Ian Lighter: ::Ian was grinning, at the expressions on their faces, the Ring bearer's chariot, Adrienne's and Alex's sartorial splendor... it was going to be a good day.::
Minister: The minister was waiting patiently, his hands folded neatly before him while one held a small binder of the words he would speak. He smiled warmly as Adrienne approached, and once she was at the rotunda, he addressed those gathered. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to finally--" a wink was given to the couple, "witness the union of Alex Vipond and Adrienne Vance. Today is a celebration. A celebration of love, of commitment, of friendship, of family, and most of all of two people who are in it forever."
Alex Vipond: For one, heart stopping moment, the world stood still and then the smile started; slow at first, but grew as Adrienne started up the aisle. Once she reached him, he took her hands in his, a gentle squeeze given her fingers as he lifted her hands and pressed a kiss to her knuckles. When the minister began to speak, Alex turned to face him, Adrienne's hand tucked into the crook of his arm.
Wrinkled Black: A year and a half and a baby later and it still didn't take much for Alex to make Adrienne blush. She wanted to kiss him right then and there, but knew it wasn't time yet, so instead she gave his arm a good squeeze, smiling widely up at him. And yes, she was snickering for the 'finally'.
Minister:Grinning, he continued to speak to the guests in attendance. "Everyone gathered here today was invited to this ceremony because you have played a special role in Alex and Adrienne's lives. You are present at this ceremony to celebrate their marriage and to witness their vows of love to one another. Will all of you, gathered here to witness this union, do all in your power to love and support this couple now, and in the years ahead? If so, please respond, 'we will.'"
Ian Lighter: "we will" His voice rumbled with the others.
IMythYou: She just looked at Sarah and shrugged. "Sure." Smirk. Then turned her attention forward again. –d
Sarah E TayIor: She began with "We..." but Isa's response made her choke slightly - thankfully drowned out by the chorus of everyone else. "...will." Nudge to Isa. (done)
Wile E Ki Yo Tea: "Yup. " Though he was making funny faces at Grayson to keep the kid occupied..while he sat in the wagon-d-
Alex Vipond: Alex's lips twitched at Ki's response, looking between his nephew and his son and then he looked back at the minister.
Minister:Once he had a [mostly] satisfactory response, he addressed the couple before him. "And Alex and Adrienne, have you come here today with the intention to be legally joined in marriage? Do you pledge to choose respect, kindness, and compassion toward one another, to listen deeply to one another, and to speak to one another truthfully, today and always?"
Wrinkled Black: Chuckling, Adrienne nodded, giving Alex's arm another squeeze. "We do."
Alex Vipond: "We do." Alex nodded, head tipping, a kiss dropped to her braided hair before he looked back at the minister.
Wile E Ki Yo Tea: He stepped over to crouch down beside Gray as the child gave out a happy squeel. Pointing up and mommy and daddy there.. and whispering to the baby. -d-
Minister: "Alex and Adrienne, your love is something that you both cherish, so much so that it's moved you to join in the union of marriage and, with your son Grayson, create a home together. Today, you dedicate your lives to giving one another happiness and support. To be certain, entering into the covenant of marriage is an act of deep trust and faith in the strength of your love. It would be a fool's error to base your marriage on the hope that your partner will change to become something they are not, or do something in the future that they do not already do today. Your marriage must be based on the heartfelt and sincere acceptance of one another, as you are, in each moment." And boy is there a lot to accept. "The pledge you make today expresses your devotion to one another and to the love you share, and the words spoken here will support your marriage if you are able to sustain your commitment through the inevitable hardships you'll face together. Today, in the presence of your families and friends, you pronounce your love for each other and make a commitment that will define the next phase of your journey. We celebrate it with you, and wish you well." Once more, he addressed the gathered. "Alex and Adrienne have prepared their own vows, which they will now read to each other." And with a smile, he gestured to Alex to go first.
Wile E Ki Yo Tea: Don't mind the airplane sounds in the background.... -d-
IMythYou: ...really fighting the urge to text.. –d
Sarah E TayIor: Sarah will take her phone away if it helps.
IMythYou: She did however lean over to whisper to Sarah, "..soo much pressure.." Her phone is in her purse! No biggie! –d
Alex Vipond: Alex nodded to the minister and then turned to Adrienne. "You know, I've tried to come up with something to say, that would be appropriate, something to express the depth of how I feel, but we'd be here entirely too long for that." He chuckled and shook his head. "There's just too much. Too much to put into one small paragraph." He smiled. "I want you to know I will spend the rest of your life with you. Drive you batshit crazy during football season. And love you madly for the rest of my life."
Wile E Ki Yo Tea: "bat poo poo.. " was whispered to Grayson.. along with " bad daddy potty mouth. " -d-
Sarah E TayIor: Ki and his need to make everything G or PG rated.
Wrinkled Black: Facing Alex, she bit her bottom lip and watched Alex's eyes all the while. If she didn't, her face would split open from her grin. That is, until his football promise. She rolled her eyes, but was laughing. When the minister nodded to her, she took a deep breath. "Alex, you are my best friend. I take you as you are--even your love of football--loving who you are now and who you are yet to become." Yes, there was a double meaning in that. "You've already given me the most precious gift of our son, and now only the gift to be your wife for the rest of our lives can top that. I love you more than I can ever put into words, and I look forward to doing so for eternity."
Minister:Smiling, he turned to Ki. "May I please have the rings?" They were loosely tied to a pillow in the wagon, just out of Grayson's reach. Just in case.
Ian Lighter: ::He reflected that when Adrienne said "eternity" she really meant it.::
Wile E Ki Yo Tea: "Yup." He took the rings off the pillow, and stood up. He held up the rings like they were trophies so everyone could see them. Then stepped over to hand them off to the minister. -d-
Alex Vipond: It was all Alex could do not to kiss her right there and then. Instead, he gave her hands a squeeze and then looked to Ki as he offered the rings to the minister.
Wile E Ki Yo Tea: He stepped back over to continue baby patrol, but this time just picked Grayson up, and turned him to watch. -d-
Minister:He chuckled, nodding. "Yes, there they are, thank goodness." Good natured chuckling rippled through the crowd as he took the rings. "Since ancient times, the ring has been a symbol of the unbroken circle of love, with no beginning and no end. Love given freely has no giver and no receiver, for each is the giver and each is the receiver. May these rings always remind you of the freedom and power of this commitment you make here today." He handed Alex the amethyst ring first. "Alex, placing the ring on Adrienne's finger, repeat after me: Adrienne, I give you this ring, as a sign of my vow to love, honor, and cherish you."
Alex Vipond: Taking the ring, Alex slipped it onto her finger as he repeated the words. "Adrienne, I give you this ring, as a sign of my vow to love, honor, and cherish you."
Minister: He then handed Adrienne the platinum and diamond band. "Adrienne, placing the ring on Alex's finger, repeat after me: Alex, I give you this ring, as a sign of my vow to love, honor, and cherish you."
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne was beaming, but she was also starting to get a little choked up. She took the ring and slid it onto Alex's finger. "Alex, I give you this ring, as a sign of my vow to love, honor, and cherish you."
Alex Vipond: Smiling as Adrienne slid the ring on his finger, he regarded it a moment, and then looked back at the minister.
Minister: "Alex and Adrienne, inasmuch as you have pledged yourselves, each to the other, and have declared the same in the presence of this company by the exchange of vows and the giving and receiving of rings, by the power vested in me by the state of Connecticut, I now pronounce you husband and wife." Grinning, he nodded to Alex. "Alex, you may now kiss your bride!"
Alex Vipond: "Finally!" He grinned, cupped Adrienne's face between his hands and drew her in for that first kiss as husband and wife.
Ian Lighter: ::he gave a "whoot!" and applauded loudly::
IMythYou: Oh it's applause time, right?! Yay clapping! –d
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne laughed, curling her arms around his waist as she returned the kiss. And yes, her foot popped!
Wile E Ki Yo Tea: And a happy baby squeel came with all the clapping. Grayson just stayed quiet though.. -d-
Minister: Holding his hands up, he grinned. "Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to present to you the new Mr. and Mrs. Vipond!"
Sarah E TayIor: Sarah smiled, clapping along with everyone else and somewhere in there she heard the baby squeal, which made her chuckle a little. (done)
Wrinkled Black: Ki's baby squeal had Adrienne laughing. Once/if Alex let her go, she gave Nan a hug and a kiss, then she was snagging one from Ki, too, while also taking Grayson from him.
Wile E Ki Yo Tea: Yep she could take Gray cause.. gray may have gave them a wedding gift too.... He handed Gray over kissed Adrienne on the cheek, then stepped over to give Alex a back slapping hug. -d-
Alex Vipond: Hands were being shook, and when Ki thumped him on the back, Alex pulled him in for a hug. "Let's Party!" When he was finally able, he took his wife's hand and led her down the aisle.
Ian Lighter: ::he clapped as the happy couple passed by, grinning widely::
Sarah E TayIor: Once they walked past them, Sarah leaned over to Isa. "Now you can play on your phone." She teased. (done)
Wile E Ki Yo Tea: He walked down the isle following the couple with one of the brides maids on his arm.. -d-
Nan Smith: Just little ol' Nan. Lucky you, Ki!
IMythYou: Well, that was nice. And she didn't even get on her phone! Isa had only been to one other wedding in her life and that was a catholic one. This was much shorter. –d
Wile E Ki Yo Tea: Great.. going to get to hear how he doesnt come around enough, how thin he looks, that he needs to eat more.... -d-
Sarah E TayIor: Could be worse. Like McGonagall dancing with Ron worse.
IMythYou: She giggled and leaned over to whisper to Sarah.. –d
Melanie Mishoe: As dinner was still in the works, there were plenty of things to keep all of the guests occupied. Cocktails and hors d'oeurves were being served on the main floor of the house and the back patio. A large pavillion tent was set up toward the back of the grounds for dinner and dancing, and dotted throughout the grounds were fun outdoor games, such as bowling, horseshoes, giant Jenga, and giant chess.
Sarah E TayIor: Sarah snorted and shook her head. Isa was gonna get her in trouble before the night was up.
IMythYou: Snort! -Buncha piggies over here snorting. –d
Wrinkled Black: (Just a reminder.. wrinkledblack.wixsite.com/vipondwedding (Keyword to: wrinkledblack.wixsite.com/vipondwedding) )
IMythYou: GIANT JENGA?! –d
Sarah E TayIor: Giant chess? Like how giant?
IMythYou: With Isa.. they could so turn that into Wizards Chess... but.. we're in CT and not RhyDin so.. might not be a great idea to freak out the muggles. –d
Sarah E TayIor: Don't let the muggles get you down... let’s have some wizard chess!
Ian Lighter: ::he moved among the guests, there was a room where formally suited waiters took bags of blood out of special refrigerators and microwaved them to warm for guest with limited diets... there was steak tartare for guests who preferred their meaqt to be.. bloody..
Wile E Ki Yo Tea: Ooooh tartare..... -d-
Ian Lighter: then also the typical appetizers.. not volunteers!:: wishful thinking. and the regular menu items which were all delicious::
Wile E Ki Yo Tea: Ki would sample it all.. unless it was fishy.. -d-
Sarah E TayIor: She was looking forward to eating the duck.
Alex Vipond: Less praying than a Catholic wedding. Just as much booze though. Alex wasn't letting go of Adrienne any time soon as they made their way to the reception area and it would be a good long while before the smile on his face faded.
Wrinkled Black: While guests moved on to party, Adrienne tugged on Alex's hand to pause him for a moment, stealing another kiss from him. "I love you, husband." She'll probably be saying that a lot throughout the night, deal with it folks.
IMythYou: She rose from her seat and offered an arm to Sarah, "Shall we?" The guests were heading for the party.. that meant them, too! –d
Wile E Ki Yo Tea: Sarah was all about duck.-d-
Alex Vipond: Pulled up short with that kiss, Alex didn't mind one bit and he slipped his arm around Adrienne's waist. "I love you too, wife." He grinned even more and dropped another kiss to her lips.
Sarah E TayIor: She stood up also, taking Isa's offered arm. "We shall." She said with a nod. Damn straight, duck meat was delish. (done)
