( The following took place one month ago...)
Paden's dark Lexus was parked quietly enough in the parking lot of the park. Slowly he turned the page of
the book in his hands. Eyes moving over the words set to the pages as the second Lexus pulled in right beside his in a manner that the driver could speak directly to Paden as the tinted window eased downward upon the second car.
"Frank, been a while. How's your daughter?" Inquired Paden as he turned another page in the book he held in his hands. Frank Smith glanced over from the confines of his car at Paden and the Edgar Allan Poe book he had. "A good poet and general writer." Commented Frank. "And she's good, but college is expensive and I can only hope she doesn't switch majors again." Paden smirked and turned over at Frank from the book. "Yeah, one of the problems with society. The cost of health care and education, yet not everyone gets what they need in the end. Sometimes the ways of old were better." Frank smiled some over at Paden in his car. "Which ways of old would that be? Or should I say which century?" Paden perked a smirk over at Frank and gave a nod of his head as he settled the book in his hands down to the passenger seat. "What can I do for you, Frank? You left me the message for a meeting."
Frank glanced about the nearly empty parking lot. A slow cast of his gaze around the old ford pickup truck at the far end of the lot. Swing of his gaze toward a path leading into the park itself and a return of his gaze after Paden. "We need you for a job." Paden gave a light shake of his head as he tilted his head out the window at Frank. "I'm on vacation." "Yeah." Responded Frank. "Nice town. Creeps mixed in with the general population. Should maybe just fire bomb the whole thing from a strategic strike." Paden perked a brow over at Frank. "So why don't you?" "I hate paper work." Spoke Frank, as he played a light smile over at Paden who in turn chuckled gently with a nod of his shaven head. "You used to be uneasy about me, Frank." Frank nodded over at him. "Yeah, but once I realized you didn't suck blood or shift into a were monkey or something I figured I could deal with you helping us." "Gee, thanks Frank. You know how to make a guy feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside."
Frank reached a portfolio out the window toward Paden in his car. Reluctant at first, Paden reached out and took the offered item to place in the passenger seat beside him in his car. He'd look it over later. "Specifics?" He inquired over at Frank. "Church in France has reported some disturbances in a city in the South of France. Possibly Vampire, but the reports aren't consistent. Could be a form of were' or demon. Per usual, you'll have access to any equipment you need. Plus three Fire Teams should you need them. We'd rather you investigated the matter and handled it quietly however of course." Paden perked a smirk at Frank. "That matter in Moscow wasn't my fault, I told you that. What was I supposed to do? Let it get onto the train and make a mess until I caught up with it at the next station?" Frank nodded. "I don't really care how you do things, Paden. I just would like to go without the ass chewing from those above me in the chain of command." Paden smirked but nodded. "I'll see what I can do. No promises. When do I leave?"
Frank glanced about the parking lot again. "Plane ticket and your passport are in there with the required information about the matter. Also your contacts in the city in question. If you need anything else, Ben will be in contact with you. Oh and if you could find the time, try to maybe on your way back stop over at the Compound and say hello to Elvira. She's been, a pest lately." Paden chuckled with a nod across to Frank in his car. "I'll see what I can do. Vincent still won't visit her, hm?" Frank perked a brow over at Paden. "He finds her advances primitive and not the act of a long lived lady as she should be. His words, more or less. His stocks are more interesting to him, then a lusty woman." Paden nodded some. "She behaving for the most part?" Frank actually smirked some. "Depends what you consider behaving. She hasn't bitten anyone, torn some of the newer agents clothes trying to get them to stick around for.. activities." Paden laughed out right at that. Shaking his head gently over at Frank. "I think her hunger for sex, is more dangerous then her hunger for blood. I'll see if I can swing by on my way back from France, Frank."
Frank nodded over at Paden and then tossed him a new cell phone. "Ben will be in touch. Safe travels, Paden." The tinted window slowly lifted and Frank's Lexus pulled free of the spot and proceeded for the exit of the parking lot.
Paden glanced over at the portfolio and shook his head sarcastically. "I love my job... not."
