Nocturnal Legacy (10:49:10 PM): Abby had been worried out of her mind this past week. She tried not to think about him. Tried not to worry for him, but it was damn near impossible, given with what had happened last time. She tried to keep herself busy with work, but it wasn't helping much, if at all. She found herself far to distracted to focus on her current projects. With a glance to the clock, she bit at her lower lip and pondered a long moment. With a cat like reflex, she was up out of her seat, grabbing up her purse and leaving her office.
Nocturnal Legacy (10:52:38 PM): She locked up, hopped in to her old truck and quickly drove herself down to the station, making one quick stop on the way. Once she reached the station, she parked, headed inside and of course signed in before going through the routine of being checked in to visit inmates. She'd patiently wait for her time to come, when she would be called forth and once more escorted to the visiting room. Unless of course he wasn't allowed visitors still. But if that had been the case, surely they would have informed her when she first came in, right? It was a waiting game and Abby's nerves were on edge. [d]
MacabreSaVant (11:04:19 PM): It wasn't too long before they were escorting Leland on into the visitation area. Considering how his last visit with her they had restricted the freedom. This time they had the glass between them and the phone receiver to speak to. He was locked into the booth, his handcuffs removed. Settling down he peered at her a long moment before reaching out to take up the receiver and wait to see what she had to say. -d
Nocturnal Legacy (11:11:04 PM): Since it was a different way of seeing him this time, she peered through the glass as he was escorted to his seat and locked in. She frowned, despite trying to hide the sadness in her gaze and in the down turn of those lips. Abby sat there for a long moment, staring at him and it wasn't until he picked up the phone first that she reached over and did the same. There was silence for a very long moment before she spoke. Her voice soft, quiet, and at first, she wasn't sure what to say but then it came. "Leland." His name whispered in that sweet southern melody like tone. "I came to see you because I was worried. And because ..." she paused and glanced down before speaking again as her eyes lifted to meet his blues. "... I'm sorry. I'm sorry about everything. Our last visit, how it ended, why it ended that way." She stared at him with pleading eyes. "I don't expect you to forgive me, I just wanted you to know that I'm sorry. For all of it." [d]
MacabreSaVant (11:12:55 PM): Leaning forward slightly, he slouched recklessly only to prop his elbow on the steel counter, slumping lazily to press the receiver against his ear and mouth. She would be able to hear the faint huff of his breathing as he listened. The tension of his jaw noted, locking in place only to roll slightly. " ...it's fine.. just forget about it.." Low gruff voice. -d
Nocturnal Legacy (11:17:21 PM): "I don't want to forget about it." she replied quietly. "I want us to fix things. Everything. And I want to start by being here for you." she added. "I don't want us to be mad with each other anymore. I want us to be able to move past all this and so that we can be..." she paused a moment, trying to think of a way to word things best. Wanting to chose her words carefully of course. " whatever it is we're meant to be for one another." Meaning, she was leaving it up to him and to fate on how things turned out. Aquaintances, friends, maybe more... in time. Who knew what tomorrow held. Not to mention, a big part of that depended on what he wanted. She'd keep quiet a moment, giving him time to take it in, to think on it and respond how he wanted before she said anything more. [d]
MacabreSaVant (11:24:55 PM): Those piercing blues stared at her. Searching her gaze. She'd had to be kidding right? This was some cruel joke?! Lips twisted into a scowl at her before easing into a angry smirk. " You want to just .. fix it?" Brows knitted, he slowly shifted to sit up and stare at her through the window. " What do you think is going to happen Abby? Im going to fall all over myself and tell the Lawyer to get me out of here so I can come home to you cause you are wanting to work things out....when I was trying to do that back then and you didnt want to hear a goddamn thing from me cause you were with TC?" His voice was low, careful. At this moment he was on a tight coil. -d
Nocturnal Legacy (11:31:31 PM): "Leland... please... Can we just talk about this? I don't want you getting upset again. I don't want trouble for you." Yes, she saw the look in his eyes, noted the twisted smirk. She shook her head. "And yes, I want to fix it. I want .... you to be able to look at me and not hate me at least. I know it won't be easy, but nothing worth fighting for, ever is. Not friendships, not relationships, life..." she sighed. "I don't expect anything Leland. Expectations lead to disappointments and I don't want to disappoint you anymore. I don't want to disappoint myself anymore." She shook her head and gazed down. "I should have listened. I should have but I was hurt... and I know thats no excuse, but please try to understand? Please?" she asked as she looked back up to him through the glass. "I just want to be here for you. I owe you that much and more. I'm not here because I feel obligated. I'm here because I want to be. I'm here because I care. Despite what you might think or believe." [d]
MacabreSaVant (11:36:15 PM): Oh that was right. She was pissing him off, frustrating him beyond frustration. Hand gripped the phone receiver tightly til his knuckles went white. At her pleading,Leland took a deep breathe and exhaled. Forcing himself to calm his anger that had rose up within him. "...what do you want frome me, Abby?" His eyes rose up to give her a half lidded stare. "I'm not the man you want.. move on. You already did long ago.. Do it again." His voice was low, tight. Seething with anger. -d
Nocturnal Legacy (11:42:41 PM): "Leland. I want ... things to be good between us again. Some how. Some way. I want you to look at me and I want to see something than hurt, something other than anger. I don't know what I want to see there, but I do know I don't want to see any of that anymore. "And how do you know you aren't the man I want? I don't even know what I want anymore but I do know, it kills me seeing you like this. I only moved on because I believed in a lie. A lie that was created by doubt and uncertainty and ..." she sighed and shook her head. "I'm not leaving you Leland. Not this time. I'm here and I'm here to stay. No matter what." She met his gaze and hers was never faulting. Maybe teary eyed, but firm. [d]
Nocturnal Legacy (11:42:59 PM): see something other than hurt*
MacabreSaVant (11:45:04 PM): Aw fuck. The moment the teary eye regard happened he could feel his insides starting to shatter. The quiver of the line of his jaw gave indication and he averted his gaze immediately. Stubborn. " They are good.. now you can go on with your life.." Muttered. -d
Nocturnal Legacy (11:50:16 PM): "No. No they aren't. They won't be good until I see it. Until you can convince me by actions and not just words." She was trying really hard not to get to emotional but damn it if this man wasn't making it hard not to. There was a lot of history here and it was a history she wasn't just going to throw away and give up on. She was going to be here for him, however he wanted her to be or needed her to be. "My life means little if you aren't in it some how." she replied. "I'm here Leland. I'm here for you. I'm here to support you. To have your back. No matter what. And not if, but when you get out, if you want me to leave, then I'll leave. But if you want me gone? You're going to have to get out of there first and make me leave." Still teary eyed, but no tears fell. Gaze still firm. Even the tone in her voice, despite all its softness, was firm. She was being stubborn, determined. [d]
MacabreSaVant (11:54:41 PM): A low sigh escaped him. Slowly he bowed his head, obscuring his features from her stare. " Abby.. " There was a long drawn out pause before he placed his palm on the glass. Hand splayed there a moment before he rose his eyes. " Just go home..." Lips pressed firmly together then and he would not listen to her anymore. The look his stare was sad as he hung up the receiver. He was ending his visit as he leaned back then, letting his hand fall away and he would turn to speak loud enough for the C/O to hear him and was soon cuffing up to be escorted out. -d
Nocturnal Legacy (11:59:26 PM): She listened intently as he said her name. The way he said it... it pulled at her heart. When his hand touched the glass, hers lifted and her hand lined up with his, palm to palm, despite the glass between them. When his gaze lifted and he told her to go home, she gave a shake of her head. "Right now, this is home." The look, his stare that followed as he hung up caused her to bite her lip. "Leland. Leland, please don't go?" she called out through the phone still as he hung it up. "Leland! Please?!" His hand fell away and hers remained even as he turned to talk to the C/O. Now was when the tears came as she stared at him. [d]
MacabreSaVant (12:03:14 AM): Leland refused to look at her as she was crying, hearing her call his name even if it was through the glass. He just .. he couldnt. As he was cuffed up, he turned and flicked a look up at her once more. His expression was closed off before they escorted him out. -d
Nocturnal Legacy (12:08:44 AM): Abby was left sitting there, watching after him, and when he finally looked back to her, he had already shut himself off. She slumped in her seat, hung up the phone and sat there, crying for a few moments before she pulled herself together and turned, looking to the C/O and nodded, letting him know she was ready. Before she lef though, she made a stop long enough to add money to his funds. A good decent amount at that. He might not ever know about it, but it didn't matter. She had told him she was here for him and damn it, she was going to prove it in whatever ways she could. Once she was done with that, there was nothing left for her to do than to leave and gone on about her day.... somehow. [d]
