Wrinkled Black: Adrienne found it amusing that both the kids and the adults were having a fancy date night tonight. So much so she was sure to get some pictures of Ki in his suit before he went to Sarah's. If they're still together by the time prom comes around, Adrienne's going to be ridiculous. Just a head's up. She didn't dilly dally, though, returning home quickly to get ready for the evening. Bags were packed, it was simply a matter of getting dressed for dinner. The heels went on last before heading downstairs, holding on to the bannister carefully along the way. Once she made it safely, she pumped a fist in the air. "And I didn't kill myself, woohoo!"
Alex Vipond: Alex had loaded the bags in the waiting car. No, they were not driving. They were getting a Lyft to the hotel, and would take the airport shuttle from the hotel to ... the airport. On Sunday. After football. Perfect. Weekend. Alex watched as Adrienne made her way down the stairs and he chuckled at her comment as he stepped in, an arm slid around her, and a kiss dropped to her lips. "Thank you for that. And you look stunning while not doing so. "
Wrinkled Black: She was sure to give a quick little spin before he reeled her in, letting that kiss linger for a moment. "It's your son's fault for throwing my center of gravity out of whack." But she wasn't going to be daunted by heels just yet! "Thank you, and I must say..." Grinning, she took a step back to look him over. "Likewise. I'll do my best not to drool on you." She even reached to brush off his lapel, just in case.
Alex Vipond: Chuckling, Alex led her out, the alarm set at the last moment before locking up the house as they stepped outside. Down the walk to the street, Alex held first the gate, then her car door as he let her step through, and then offered his hand to help her into the car. Once she was settled, he rounded the car to slide in behind the driver, his arm sliding around Adrienne, one last pat down given himself before he caught the driver's gaze in the mirror. "Fairmont Hotel, 411 University."
Wrinkled Black: All joking aside, she was grateful for his assistance; chivalry was not dead, and it was very much appreciated. Hence the kiss she gave him before carefully sliding into the car, mindful to keep the skirt of her dress from bunching. Leaning into him, she settled her head against his shoulder. "I'm really glad we're doing this. As fun as LA and the Bahamas trips were, it's nice to get away, just the two of us."
Alex Vipond: "It is." he nodded. "And I'm glad too. I know there are going to be times when we won't have room to breathe, let alone get some time to just us, so... it's good to do it now." He smiled at her and dropped a kiss to her forehead. "And we definitely need a go bag for each of us and one for the Peanut once he's here."
Wrinkled Black: "With maybe even an extra bag for him in the trunks of the Tesla and the Range Rover, just in case." Since those would be the two cars armed with baby seats. "I was reading what people pack in diaper bags, it's absolutely nuts. Some of it is smart, but it's still nuts."
Alex Vipond: "Like what?" Because he'd not read that one yet. Yet. "And have you seen the size of those new born diapers?" Yes, he was already buying things and checking it out. And don't mention the doll in the closet he was practicing on. Although fair to point out, he will not be storing the baby in the closet.
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne laughed, nodding. "Oh, I know, they're tiny. What's sad is that they're in them for a very little amount of time." Sitting more upright, she started counting off on her fingers. "The diapers, of course, wipes, any creams needed, the changing pad, bottles, extra clothes, plastic bags, pacifiers if we use them.. and that's just, like, the essentials list that doesn't even include my shit!"
Alex Vipond: "So basically we're going to be packing for a week, every time we walk out the door." he nodded. "Good to know." he chuckled. Soon enough, the driver had them at the hotel, chit chat having gone back and forth on everything from kids to the Seahawks... Adrienne's eyes were likely to have glazed over for that part, but they were getting their bags out and since Alex had signed up for the president's club, they were given preferential check in treatment. Once they were registered, Alex tipped the bell hop... did they still call them that? to take their things up to their room while they headed for the dining room.
Wrinkled Black: They didn't quite glaze over, but close. It honestly amused Adrienne to watch how animated Alex got about his beloved team. Who knows, she may end up being a convert come playoffs time. As they were checking in, Adrienne couldn't help gawking a little as she studied the lobby. "This is gorgeous..." Looping her arm with Alex's on the way to the dining room, she grinned and lowered her voice a little. "Reminds me of the grand hotels of old."
Alex Vipond: "It was completed in 1924 so it's not, you know, horribly new." Just old enough to retain the charm of an era that was on the brink of collapse and produced some of the best blues music ever recorded. As they entered the dining room, Alex looked around, and gave Adrienne a smile. It was just a good thing, she had his arm and not his hand, or she'd be wiping hers off for the sweat he was producing.
Wrinkled Black: "Must be why I like it so much." Those were some good years, before they turned spectacularly to shit. "Oh wow..." It was a little whisper as she looked around at the chandeliers and the mirrors throughout the room. When her met his, her smile widened, but for a brief moment an eyebrow went up. "You okay, babe?"
Alex Vipond: Alex watched her, the warmth in his gaze lighting up his smile. "I couldn't be better." As they were led to their table, Alex's hand dropped to the small of her back as he leaned in. "If I didn't already say it, you are absolutely gorgeous." Once they reached the table, he pulled her chair out for her, and would ease it in once she was settled before taking his own.
Wrinkled Black: Her eyes rolled upward as she thought about it and she grinned. "Mmm, no. No, I don't think you did. Stunning was the word you used, but I fortunately accept both." Chuckling, she kissed his cheek before settling in the offered chair, and once he was settled she reached her hand for his. "I'll be sure to let Ava know that the dress was successful."
Alex Vipond: "Good, because both are apt." he chuckled and settled, and thank god for cloth seats on chairs as he slid his in, he was able to take care of that sweaty palm problem. Taking her hand, he nodded. "Very much so, but you look fantastic in anything."
Wrinkled Black: "I'm going to remember you said that in four months when I'm looking like a beached whale in sweat pants because nothing else is comfortable." Despite all her teasing, there was still hint of a blush creeping up her cheeks.
Alex Vipond: "Trust me, I'll remember. And I will remind you often." Alex lifted her hand, leaning toward her as he brought it up to his lips and pressed a kiss to her fingers. "I love you. And you get more beautiful every day."
Wrinkled Black: Yup, she full on blushed that time. Her smile was wide though as she watched him, brushing the tip of her thumb along his cheek as he kissed her fingers. "I love you, too, so very much. It's kind of crazy to think that we've both gone on for so long without each other, and now? I can't imagine my life without you in it."
Alex Vipond: "I don't want you to ever have to. And I guess we were just ... waiting for the opportune moment." Chuckling, Alex leaned back. "Okay, let's try and decide what we want to eat."
Wrinkled Black: "At a Seattle diner, of all places." She chuckled as well and picked up one of the menus to start browsing through it. "Would you want to do individual entrees or the three course? I don't know if I could handle the five." Eyes widened a little at the thought.
Alex Vipond: "The three course looks good, what do you think?" He looked up at her and chuckled. "Three course it is. Think they'd substitute one salad for another?" Alex was not down with fattened duck liver. Liver anything, really, but not that in particular.
Wrinkled Black: It took everything Adrienne had not to crack up, her hand lifting to unsuccessfully cover her grin. "If they don't, I'll help you eat it." Snickering, she shook her head and muttered. "Jesus, can't take you anywhere." She winked at him, though!
Alex Vipond: "Hey, I'm trying to be animal cruelty free." Chuckling, Alex laid the menu aside, since they knew what they wanted. It didn't take the waiter long to arrive at their table, and Alex smiled at the guy. "We're having the three course; mine with the filet of Angus, and if you would, I would like to substitute the Roots salad for the salad of petite lettuces." Alex looked over at Adrienne. "Baby, did you want the beef or the seared scallops?" She'd been kind of anti-sea food early on, but she could have gotten over that by now. Especially since the morning sickness was gone.
Wrinkled Black: She smiled warmly to him, reaching for his hand again once the menus were out of the way. If it was sweaty still, she either didn't notice or didn't mind it at all. "I'll have the seared scallops, please, they sound amazing. And no wine with mine," added with a grin and her other hand settling on her belly. The waiter nodded and smiled, and Adrienne assured him that water would be just fine.
Alex Vipond: "I'll have the wine." he could drink for two. Alex gave Adrienne's hand a gentle squeeze and then he brought it up to his lips again, brushing her fingers once more before he rested their hands on the table. "You know, that class ring of mine, does tend to look kind of lonely, don't you think?"
Wrinkled Black: Chuckling, she brushed her thumb along his finger as she watched their hands. "Oh, I don't know. I do get asked about it a lot, and I can assure you that you've won brownie points with plenty of strangers." Because a girl having her boyfriend's class ring was rather nostalgic and very sweet.
Alex Vipond: "Really?" Grinning, he couldn't help but be pleased with that.' 'Cool." Chuckling, he nodded. "Still, I think we can manage to balance it out a bit." Rising from his chair, he moved toward her, her hand still in his, as his other hand slipped into his jacket pocket. "In fact, I thought we'd do it with this number here." The box, being rather large, was left at home, but the ring was there, held between his fingers and offered up to her as he got down on one knee. "Adrienne Vance. Will you marry me?"
Wrinkled Black: Weeks, he said weeks. Well that was just a big ol' lie and it caught her completely by surprise. As Alex reached into his pocket, Adrienne gasped, the realization hitting her. Her free hand tried to silence it, her eyes wide. Of course other diners were watching them, but she was completely oblivious to them, her eyes--brimming with tears now!--focused entirely on Alex. Who was proposing! She could only nod at first, her voice having left her for a moment before she managed a whisper. "Of course I will!"
Alex Vipond: Alex slipped the ring onto her finger, and then he cupped her face between his hands and kissed her, soundly. Didn't care how many people were watching as he wrapped his arms around her. The diners around them were actually applauding, but Alex was oblivious.
Wrinkled Black: 110% oblivious. The kiss returned, she was laughing as she threw her arms around him and hugged him tight. May have even taken her a while to finally let go, giving him a light smack on the arm. "You said weeks!" But before he could try to defend himself she was hugging him again, her face buried in his neck. And yes, she was crying.
Alex Vipond: Laughing at the smack, he held her as she buried her face against him, his hands soothing over her back. "I love you, Adrienne, and not to go all Beyonce, but yes, I like it and yes, the ring is there." He smoothed his hand over her hair, and yes he was still down on that knee, even as they were being congratulated.
Wrinkled Black: Laughter through tears was truly the best emotion. Especially when they were happy tears to begin with. "I love you, too..." She gently pulled back once more so she could give him another sound kiss, which earned a few more cheers and brought to her attention that they were on display. She didn't care all that much, but her grin was a little sheepish as she wiped the tears from under her eyes, mindful of the mascara she was wearing.
Alex Vipond: Alex smiled and nodded, a wave given to their momentary fans, and then he settled back into his chair, just in time for their first course to be delivered. "And there you have it. Timing is everything." He chuckled, his napkin dragged from the table and over his thigh.
Wrinkled Black: The color had returned to her cheeks as she straightened in her chair, pulling her napkin into her lap and smiling sheepishly to the waiter. A quiet thank you given to him for his congratulations. While most women would be gawking at the rock on her finger, she was too busy grinning at her rock star instead. "Did you have this in mind when we were making plans last night?"
Alex Vipond: "I did." He nodded, sheepishly. "It just seemed like the right time and ....." he looked around, and then back at her. "The right place." Alex nodded to her and pointed his fork at her. "And you helped plan it." He cracked up over that part.
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne laughed as well, nodding. "So I did! We done good, babe." Yeah, okay, now she was ogling the ring and grinning. "Correction: You done good." Before he could get a bite in she leaned over to steal another kiss from him. Hopefully the last before their food spoils.
Alex Vipond: Alex wasn't letting her get away so fast. His hand cupped the back of her head and his lips played over hers slowly, before he finally pulled his head back, eyes on hers, and then he leaned back in his seat once more. "We'd better eat before we have to have them send it upstairs for us."
Wrinkled Black: "Oh, we'll enjoy that experience, too. Don't you worry." She smirked as she took a bite, unable to help the moan. "And you've been in Seattle a hell of a lot longer than I have, you can be my tour guide." She'd only been in town a little over a month when they first reconnected; she still has lots to see. "If we're up, that is."
Alex Vipond: "If we're up." Alex paused. "Depending..." He took another bite of his salad and then offered one out to her. "This is the bomb..."
Wrinkled Black: "Big if.." She chuckled, then leaned over to take the bite. Her eyes widened a little and she nodded. "Mmhm! And we're so trading bites of course two, right?" It really wasn't her intention to do so when she ordered the scallops, but hey...whatever works, right?
Alex Vipond: "Naturally." Chuckling, Alex nodded. "Mmm." he was stabbing up another bite when he paused. "Edward says there's a house in Connecticut, not forty minutes from Manhattan, that we should look at."
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne couldn't help laughing, holding her hand in front of her mouth briefly. "It's like an addiction to you, isn't it?" She winked at him before taking another bite, thinking it over as she chewed and swallowed. "All though, Connecticut is really beautiful. New England in general, really." With a grin, she shrugged. "I suppose I wouldn't mind checking out houses with my fiancé..." Don't squee in the middle of the restaurant, Adrienne, don't squee..
Alex Vipond: "It is." Alex nodded. "We can look it up on web MD later and find out what the proper term for compulsive house buying is." When she called him her fiancé, he couldn't help but grin. "God.... I love the sound of that." Don't mind the ear to ear grin folks, it will eventually mellow out.
Wrinkled Black: "Though..." She frowned a little, poking the few small pieces left on her plate. "I was really getting rather fond of 'baby daddy'..." Because, really, the terms boyfriend and girlfriend just weren't enough. "It's classier, sure, but still...." Lip. Twitch.
Alex Vipond: "Hey, I'm still the baby daddy." He grinned at her, and then lifted his glass, taking a sip of his wine. "And you're still the baby momma." He nodded, and did that fork point again. "Always will be, too." Leaning back as he pushed his plate away, Alex regarded her. "Where would you like to get married? I know we kind of talked about having it in the Bahamas."
Wrinkled Black: Adrienne laughed, nodding. "Fair enough." Fortunately it never really bothered her when people (usually 'older') noticed she was pregnant, then look straight to her left hand. She'd probably just flip them off if they said anything. At the question of where to be married, she leaned back as well, thinking about it. "Oh, gosh, I don't know. A destination wedding sounds cool, but at the same time, something local may enable more people to come when invited." Chuckling, she shrugged. "We're not in any hurry to make a decision yet, are we?"
Alex Vipond: "No." Alex shook his head. "We could have it at the house. Anyone too drunk to go home can stay, peanut can walk the ring down the aisle with Gus at his side like a faithful steed." He could picture that too, and it had him chuckling.
Wrinkled Black: She stared at him for a moment, then cracked the hell up. "I don't know about that local.." She shook her head, sitting a little more upright when their plates were cleared and the next course brought out. "But maybe at a nice hotel, like this one? I'm sure there's tons of awesome venues around town."
Alex Vipond: "Oh holy shit," he nodded and straightened in his seat. "This place would be perfect. It’s a hotel so you got plenty of room for the guests, if any need to stay over, they got ball rooms and all kinds of stuff."
Wrinkled Black: Chuckling, she nodded. "We'll put this at the top of the list, then."
